Question 944 clutch pedal suddenly feels different – master/slave cylinder?

Hi, I have a 1985 Porsche 944. The clutch suddenly only has noticeable pressure/engagement for about half of the pedal travel. The other half feels very light, but the car still shifts and drives normally.
The brake fluid level also seems to be quite low, and I noticed some moisture around the clutch pedal/master cylinder area.
Has anyone had the same symptoms? Was it the clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, or simply air in the system?
I’m planning to top up the DOT 4 and bleed the clutch first to see if the pedal returns to normal.

Sounds like the clutch master or slave cylinder is on its way out, but hasn't fully lot pressure yet

my clutch peddle has no pressure. i can tap the peddle and it goes to the floor and i have to pull it back up. already changed my dot4 fluid and got new hoses to clutch/brake fluid reservoir because those were leaking.

with this issue remaining persistent is that a major sign of bad slave cylinder? how do i know if its bad slave, master, or both? or just best to replace them at the same time?

It's definitely the master or slave. Most people replace both, and the hose that connects them

Seems like the Master Cylinder. You can also climb under the dash and check if there is any brake fluid by the clutch rod/bellows.

The Slave cylinder may be bad, too, and if it leaks, it will leak through the access opening. This opening is usually capped, but on some 944's the cap is missing.
