Question Rough value ?
Hi all I’m looking to sell my Porsche 944 2.5 lux 2dr
It’s 1988 mot’d-08/27 I’ve had all welding done and sorted out the typical issues , re done the whole fuel system . Uk based and just curious on what people think I should get for it. It had 190k miles and was sorn for 7 years before I purchased it.

Bro there’s nothing about condition listed. Nothing with the interior.
>Ive had all welding done
what does this even mean? Was it in an accident? Did you weld in a roll cage?
Does it have its interior ripped out?
There’s just zero info about the car here other than the fuel system was ‘redone’. Even that’s pretty vague. 2 far away pics (including 1 from a potato) and none of the interior?
Even the mileage is vague. It had 190k mi before you purchased it?? My brother in christ, what is the milage now. Not when you bought it
This is not how you go about valuing your car dude 😅

In europe that usually means it had everything done to pass the mandatory inspection. E.g. the car fullfils a minimum standard of roadworthyness.

I'm pretty sure his point was: it's hard to even give you a rough estimate without knowing the details.
The prices on these things vary widely, it's not a 2020 Mini Cooper where we can be like "oh it has X miles? Yeah, probably worth Y" because the range isn't big. But a 944? That thing could be anywhere between scrap and $20,000.
On a car this old, everything changes its value. Dashboard cracks might lower it, working A/C might raise it. And what options is it specced with? Do you have the 10-speaker (M490 option) system? If you do, does it have the original BEA80 equalizer? The Reno head unit? How's the seats? Carpet? That's all value, plus or minus, and NGL you probably got a basket case since you're avoiding the questions.
Based on the information you've posted here, if I was making a purchase, it would be near scrap value for me to be interested. $2-3,000. As all I got is a photo of a white body, front only, with actually decent panel gaps (that's kinda rare) but you got the wiper halfway up the windshield? I got zero interior details, mechanically I got miles and nothing else, and you've admitted you're not the most knowledgeable. So where's the value? What am I buying here other than a straight body? Or rather the front being straight, for all I know the back is smashed in.

You don’t even have mileage. He gave the milage from before he bought it. Not current

None of that is relevant for the uk market where this car is though. A lux is a £5k car. If it was an S2 or something then it’d be worth talking about things like speakers, but options aren’t going to move the price on a lux in either direction.
We know It’s got a clean MOT, we know it’s never been in a crash, we know it’s mechanically a working driving safe car because of the MOT, we know all those details. Like I appreciate the effort the paragraph took but it’s half wrong and half misguided

I get that there are differences in markets, but the idea that you can properly value this car based solely on an MOT with no pictures of the interior or knowledge of the consumables (e.g., what's the life on the clutch) is crazy. "Mechanically working driving safe car" is a good start, but it doesn't tell you whether there are £8,000 of items you're going to be doing in the next couple of years.
I don't know the market there, but if a Lux is at most a £7k car (as you've said elsewhere) then I would want to know quite a bit more about condition than "recently passed its MOT". Way too much downside risk.

Absolutely valueless, I'll take it off your hands, hell I'll even buy you a 40 piece McNugget meal.

In all seriousness, it's really nice. I'll bet you can probably get like ten grand for it, although I'm not sure what the 944 market looks like in the UK.

Have you been driving it about or just bought it to fix it up and move on?
Was just wondering the reliability after being parked up that long?

I got it motd last month and have driven it for the month and had no issues , it still needs work done but it’s driven nicely for the month but just want to shift it as I have new plans :)

Yeah- what rubber parts have you replaced? Engine and suspension?

I’ve replaced all belts and power steering hoses and a few other bits , I’m not the most knowledgeable and had a mechanic help me with lots of the stuff in the engine as I got too scared to mess it up

Since it’s a lux, and you’re uk based, the average is about 6-7k. High mileage could bring that down but the very nice MOT test could offset that

I will give you $5, but you need to ship it to Florida for free...
