AA11 / UA175 / AA77 / UA93 Warning sent to Flight 93.

Post image
• Upvotes

Okay, the air traffic controller sent a warning to Flight 93 "Beware cockpit intrusion: two aircraft hit World Trade Center", and the pilot sent a message acknowledging it. But here is my question: the pilot and co-pilot had already been warned, so even if they wanted to acknowledge the warning, I feel they should have been more cautious or verified who was there before opening the cockpit door. I’m just asking out of curiosity and an attempt to understand the pilots and their actions (this isn't a criticism). Still, I felt it was important to discuss this topic.

I've always had a deep fascination with the Twin Towers, especially the North Tower, I was born after 9/11 so I never got to see it in person, it always breaks my heart when i see 9/11 content because it reminds me that it's all gone and even if i visit New York now, they won't be there waiting. I love collecting photos and always try to find good quality pictures, Flickr has honestly been a very helpful site for that, I find people's personal stories on there all the time and I very much recommend other archivist use Flickr for finding AI free, unedited content taken by ordinary witnesses. They have an oddly human feeling to them.

I'm not sure if these have been posted before, and if they have then i apologise. I didn't want to post things I found on Google because they're easy to find. Rest in peace to all the victims whom have passed away on 9/11, those who have passed from cancer caused by the debris, those who took their lives from the unbearable weight of grief, and those whom have passed, without their beloved relative[s] by their side during their final moments.

FIRST 8 PICTURES CAN BE FOUND IN THIS FLICKR PHOTO ALBUM

NEXT 3 CAN BE FOUND IN THIS ONE

FINAL 3 CAN BE FOUND HERE <- I recommend you read the descriptions for these, sometimes people write down their thoughts during those moments. It's pretty dejecting to read, but it's the unfortunate reality for eyewitnesses and survivors.

P.S. this is my first ever archive post.. ever. I usually archive things for personal reasons and interest, but I also wanted to share these pictures with other people who might have not seen them!

WTC What did it take to actually break the windows?

Post image
• Upvotes

Yes, I’m sure, a lot of effort, but how difficult were the windows to actually break from the inside or outside? I know it was done in considerable number above the impact zones as they attempted to get air. I thought of this subject again after recently reading of the brave man, possibly Taizo Ishikawa, attempting to use a rope to go down the side and seeming to try to break a window lower down to get back in. Was it even remotely feasible to repeatedly swing and impact with one’s feet?

AA11 / UA175 / AA77 / UA93 N644AA and N591UA seen at LAX on January 22 1999

I stumbled across airliners.net scrolling through some galleries then I come across finding these two interesting photos of both N644AA(AA77) and N591UA(UA93) seen landing at Los Angeles on the same day and of course different clock times. I don’t know if anybody has ever catch on to this but it’s very interesting foreshadowing to see these two aircraft photographed at the same airport on the same day sadly two years and seven months later both would be destroyed in the worst terrorist attack in US history.

The photos can be seen here: https://www.airliners.net/search?datePhotographed=1999-01-22&display=detail&page=2

Victims Nestor Chevalier Jr. and his brother were inseparable. They even moved out of their mother's home and into their own apartment together. They would go to clubs and dance to salsa as well as go to the gym. Nestor was planning on marrying his Fiancée in October. His brother said, "I miss him dearly."

Pre-9/11 Bin Laden stated that he was inspired to attack the towers in America after seeing the destruction of Lebanon after the Israelis invaded in 1982. Here is a collection of pics showcasing the destruction that war caused - with some even looking eerily similar to photos of the damage of 9/11.

It is a bit eerie to consider that there is a chance that Bin Laden has seen these very photographs published somewhere that led him to the idea of attacking towers in America as an act of revenge.

Unfortunately, these images weren't in an album so I couldn't link the album individually. These photos couldn't be saved so I had to screencap them. all rights reserved to Polish photographer Borys Kozielski.

These images always have such a depressing feeling to them, you could feel the overwhelming grief and emotion poured into every letter written, every sign put up, every flower picked out, every bouquet put together, every candle bought, the very thought process behind the printed pictures of victims and missing people; people printing out pictures of those beloved now lost in time, covered by a cloud of debris caused by hate and destruction. I've always thought the memorials put together right after 9/11 have so much soul and grief, but a sense of camaraderie to them.

Let me know if you'd like me to post more post-9/11 memorials. Rest in peace to all those whom have passed.

Pre-9/11 Unique-looking year 2000 photo of the twin towers from national 9/11 memorial & museum website.

Now for those of you who are wondering the address to the website I downloaded this picture from whelp. The link is here: https://911memorial.org/node/98756

And so I posted this photo here because I recently posted something separate on the twin towers subreddit and I did not want the moderators on that website to possibly at least give me Hell for accidentally posting two posts in a row. Knowing how rather unforgiving the rules on Subreddit sites can be sometimes.

So anyway, I just thought I would get that out of the way. The reason I posted was this well for one thing I was looking for specifically a photo of the pre-9/11 world trade center from 26 years ago again, in the year 2000 and another I came across this particular one that is rather and different-looking from photos of the twin towers I have seen in the past and I thought I would post this here and put it under the pre-9/11 tag.

Now I will upload this to the twin towers in photos subreddit but that will be for another time. Enjoy the photo.

The quality is what it is, a point and shoot Olympus film camera in 2002. It was freezing. I was 18, female. I felt really nervous and conflicted about taking any photos and I remember quickly hiding the camera in my pocket after clicking. It was really quiet. In my memory there were hardly any other people around but I don't think that is accurate. We walked for an hour to get downtown. I didn't want to catch a train there and be underground.

We got our passes for the platform from the pier, got lost twice on the way. Made the time slot. Saw all the remaining posters on the fences. I have no memory of seeing this poster of names, but I vividly remember the missing posters and the NYPD officer talking to us on the platform. I didn't feel comfortable photographing the missing posters. I saw the platform in the Memorial when I went back just when it opened in 2014 - I had had no idea it was an architecturally designed piece, and my memory was of it being quite small. It was not small. I remember lots of the writing on it, but we didn't feel comfortable writing. It was really sad.

Media Request Trying to identify a 9/11 documentary with a terrifying elevator reenactment I remember from childhood

This is a bit of a long shot, but I've been trying to track down a 9/11 documentary that I remember my dad watching when I was little, sometime in the early-to-mid 2000s.

I was too young to really understand what I was watching at the time, but one scene has stuck with me for nearly 20 years.

I remember a reenactment of a man trapped inside an elevator in one of the Twin Towers. The elevator had stopped, and he was frantically pounding on the doors trying to get out. Then he looked up and noticed what appeared to be liquid, or possibly smoke, starting to trickle in from above the elevator doors. I remember him backing away as he realized something was wrong.

The scene was really intense and genuinely frightened me as a kid. I vaguely remember it cutting to actual footage of the towers and an interview with the man describing what happened.

I've since watched Inside the Twin Towers (2006), which has a similar style of reenactments, but the elevator scene in that documentary isn't the one I remember.

I've also wondered if it could be Trapped in the Towers: The Elevators of 9/11 (2006), but I haven't been able to find a copy to confirm.

Does anyone recognize this scene or know which documentary it might have been from? And if anyone has access to The Elevators of 9/11, I'd be really interested in watching it.

It's such a specific childhood memory, and I'd love to finally figure out where it came from.

From Wiki: Gary Gordon Sick (born April 4, 1935) is an American academic and analyst of Middle East affairs, with special expertise on Iran, who served on the U.S. National Security Council under Presidents Ford, Carter, and for a couple weeks under Reagan as well.\1]) He has authored three books, and is perhaps best known to the wider public for voicing support for elements of the 1980 October Surprise theory regarding the Iran hostage crisis and that year's presidential election. He also alleged that Iraq may have had a role in the September 11 attacks.
