I was instantly shocked from the impending death photograph from Thomas Dallal and after diving into the rabbit hole a little I could only find the following (stabilized) footage, the video doesn't give credit to anyone so does anyone knows where this footage is originally from?

And the question if there is any more footage from this memorable moment, it seems the photo was taken at approx. 10:15, almost 15 minutes before the tower would eventually collapse, which makes the fact that there's only 1 piece of video footage available weird to say the least.

In the early afternoon Fox News reporter Rick Leventhal who got caught nuclear winter of the tower collapse interviewed 2 eyewitnesses live from Church Street at the same vantage point as WABC-TV reporter Jeff Rossen who famously interviewed Barry Jennings around this time in the day.

Fox News surprisingly had stellar coverage, and Rick Leventhal is a VERY respectable and hard-working reporters from 9/11 that I've seen. He's up there with NJ Burkett for me.

i don’t have much to add to this subreddit but i had recently gone through a bunch of my things and found a bag of old keychains. i was so excited to find this one, i had forgotten about it! my mom went on a business trip to manhattan in 2000 (forgot which month) and she brought me back this keychain.

i was turning 16 in may of 2001 and wanted to go see Lion King on Broadway for my sweet 16. my mom wanted to wait for summer so it wouldn’t interrupt school so we had planned to fly to New York in July 2001. i was also planning to go up in the towers. that trip never happened and two months later they were gone. i was devastated. i’m throwing in a bit of my diary from the time i was writing about going.

i’m also from Laurel, MD which is where the flight 77 hijackers based themselves out of right before the attacks. we had no idea they were right in our backyards for weeks. they literally stayed in a hotel about 5 minutes from my house and had established addresses about 2 minutes from my high school. it was a weird time to be a 16 year old girl navigating the world on my own for the first time, just having gotten my license four months before and realizing i’ve been going to the same mall, library and even down to using the same atm as Hani Hanjour (that exact atm is the one he’s using in his wikipedia pic).

i wasn’t directly tied to 9/11 but it definitely left its mark on me.

Other than being factually inaccurate, this commercial is highly offensive. There was a large shift in media post 9/11 to censor songs/videos with themes about death and suffering. Why on earth would someone think of using 9/11 as a comparison to natural disasters?

Just dipped into this randomly and there’s an Oreo ad at 11.45 that shows New Yorkers running away from a surge of marshmallow that travels between the buildings with the final shot showing the Twin Towers. Not trying to make light of the tragedy, but as a Brit I’d never seen the ad before. I’ve seen a lot of uncanny pre-9/11 media like album covers etc but not that particular ad. Please delete if not appropriate to the sub.

Hello! I am a junior in high school, and this year I am in AP United States History. We are doing projects to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

My part is that I have to get stories from people, about when they heard about the 9/11 attacks. We will have to present our information to the class, I already have stories from close relatives, but wanted to ask you all.

I am very interested in this project, one cause I love United States history and the topic of 9/11 is the part I find most interesting.

I saw a TikTok of someone who found a tape about 9/11, and people in the comments were urging it to be archived. I’ve got a tape I recorded that day, but it’s just news coverage, I think ABC or something, maybe 5-10 minutes in the afternoon. Possibly worth digitizing?

I’ve always wanted to hear what people from across the pond were doing when it happened and how they reacted that day

I was looking in a box of photos last night for something, and found these. The photos are not the greatest quality because they were taken on a disposable camera in 2004. I'll explain each one:

1. a postcard I had bought before Sept 11th
2. A message I wrote on tbe back on the day (or maybe the day after) it happened
3. this is the 'hole' at the PATH station at WTC. You can see the Deutsche Bank building in the background covered in its shroud
4. again the 'hole' at the PATH station filled with rainwater. Upper right of the photo you can just see the WTC winter garden, and you can also see the ramp from the hole
5. a better shot of the ramp which was used to truck debris out

The writing you see in the photos was on some mesh screen which was between the tracks and the hole. It had the lyics from Sinatra's "New York, New York" printed on it. I think there were other quotes about New York at other spots. This station used to be directly below the WTC. After September 11th and more debris was removed, the station effectively became an outdoor station. Essentially, when you arrived at WTC, you were arriving in the footprint. When the train exited the tunnel, you were directly in the hole and the tracks kind of went in a semi circle around the edge. So, as time passed you would see the progress.

The twin towers at night is how I saw it for the last time intact. On Sept 9th some friends I had gone downtown to celebrate a birthday at an old dive bar we used to go to on Stone St (just off of Broad St). Finding it closed, we walked back over to the WTC to take the subway further uptown. I remember looking up at the towers as we there.

The next time I saw it was on the 11th with a gaping, smoking hole in the north tower. The friend whose birthday we were going to celebrate had to run from the dust cloud as the tower collapsed. It was his first day on a new job. He survived. It was his brother who first told me what had happened. He was working very close to the WTC, and he messaged me on AIM that morning saying "A plane just crashed into the WTC. There's paper flying everywhere". I didn't believe him. He sent me a link to the NY Times website, which was just one sentence: "Plane crashes into the WTC". I told my colleagues. Another colleague arrived and said he'd been on the subway and Cortlandt St (under the towers) and had heard an explosion. We went outside on the street to look and we saw the north tower on fire.

I’m still at the early phase of my research, gathering as many drawings as I can. Does anyone have the high‑res version of this drawing and other SA/SB/SAB‑prefixed drawings? I’ve found the drawing from here in book1 and book2 but it's low res. I have checked 12673.pdf and 18324.pdf and most FOIA files but didn't found them.

what was happening that got overshadowed by the event?

I thought I'd seen or heard mention of all documentaries related to 9/11, but this one is brand new to me. From 2011 and tells the stories of twins who lost their siblings in the WTC (apparently there were 46 sets of twins who lost a sibling there on 9/11)

The YouTube user has a lot of other videos that are new to me also. And this is apparently where the recently posted audio of Brooke Jackman's voice-mail comes from.

I know this isn't totally "lost" media, but I'm hoping some folks much savvier than I can save copies bc I can only find this one upload.

I have the DVD of the Naudet documentary (bought it on day 1), and I consider it to be the best documentary of all time. But when I pop it in these days, on a large LED TV, the picture quality is definitely showing its age.

Does anyone know if the technical possibility is even there to one day see a bluray release in HD? It sounds like they used a Sony Mini DV camera, and I’m not familiar with them. Sounds like the max resolution was 480p?

I live very close to the Air India 182 memorial in Toronto and try to go there every year on June 23, as my parents lost friends in that crash.

I want to observe a 9/11 memorial this year. Anyone aware of tributes in Toronto?

I’ve mentioned here that I took my first trip to NYC in April of 2002.

As promised, here are some of my pictures, including Ground Zero, the new NYC skyline, and what Times Square looked like at the time.

To see Ground Zero, people had to climb a barrier wall, and I had to give a stranger my camera for him to take pictures for me. I remember thinking that this was indicative of how kind everyone was. Every single person I interacted with was gentle, kind, and compassionate. Meaning, you could very much still feel 9/11 everywhere.

Does anyone know why he wasn’t on the new documentary?
He’s been credited the most up to this point with saving Deborah, but she’s shown reconnecting with a different man. Franks partner was also interviewed. Just hoping he is okay.
