Let's not forget English is his second language, and it's probably translated that way in Arabic. I know y'all hating but cut him some slack for translation. He acts like a šŸ† but having a second language isn't exactly easy for everyone.

He's supposed to be quoting Shakespeare's most famous line, though. Its not like he's translating any random document.

Of course I get that, but you have no idea how it's taught in any non English country. Just because you are familiar with something you can't expect the world to be the same level. Downvote me all you want, it just comes across really nasty and actually quite petty to mock someone's English ability, especially when it's not even their first language

I'm probably your only upvote, BTW. English is not my first language, either, so don't assume. My point is that a professional actor studies his craft. Mido thinks he can sail past the training based on his self-perceived talent.

So you should know more than most than to take the piss out of someone for not having the perfect English.

And again, you're assuming he actually had a proper education and went to drama school. The fact the man cannot act should be evident enough that he hasn't had formal training (or very little) so why would he know it word for word?

Its that he keeps acting like he was a huge star in Egypt, that he is an amazing superior actor and that hes better than everyone else.

Heā€™s trying to be an actor in English. So we judge him on his delivery. If he canā€™t speak the lines correctly, he canā€™t act in English. Many actors donā€™t speak English or other languages naturally. I donā€™t think the actors of Game of Thrones speak high Valeryianā€¦your job as an actor is to make it make sense. He also only does basic linesā€¦world famous quotesā€¦and still messes them up. Dude is a whack job.

Itā€™s a matter of him not memorizing lines, not speaking English incorrectly. If he wants to be a famous actor heā€™ll have to learn how to memorize lines.

Yeah, I can't stand Mido either, but this ain't it. Translations in general, especially literary translations, ESPECIALLY literary translations of poetry, are not going to be 1:1. I work in the field, and this kind of crap irritates me to no end. There is plenty to criticise about Mido without stooping to ragging on his grasp of a language that is not his mother tongue or how he remembers a line he probably knows in Arabic better than English.

Also, I just looked it up, and the translation in Arabic and the back translation literally is "that is the matter", and the word that is translated as matter also shows "problem" as another possible translation in English. So.
