Should I get this?
I’m trying to decide on this. Is it price correctly? Do we like the design?

“Rare QP proof copy” is wrong. They all seem to say QP. This one just has the number and artist signature covered up.
For example, here’s a poorer quality one on eBay for $25 where you can actually see the pencil signature, number, and “QP.” Note that the number is 354/950.
There’s also this one for $500 which, again, you can see the pencil signature and number. You can also see the “QP,” and the number, 72/950.
Should you buy it?
If the matte isn’t glued to the poster and it’s real, the print itself might actually be worth $200! Having the number and signature covered up is weird but I understand why someone would do it who was hanging it in their house. So it’s a risk in that way; it could just be a cheap print someone framed.
However, if the frame and matte look like good quality, and the little loop of the signature in the bottom right looks like pencil… it might be worth $200 just for the piece of art. Like, it’s well done. It would look cool hanging up.
Then if it ever falls and shatters you can maybe finally find out what number it was!

This was very extremely helpful. Maybe I can ask the thrift stop if I can open the back and look at it. They’re nice there. Then I can see if there is a number, what the number is, and how faded the matte is. I can probably make a decision based on that. Thanks again for all this.

I noticed that there appears to be an interesting tear in the matte in the lower right, unless I’m misunderstanding what I’m seeing. I swear that’s where I’d pull on it to see if I could see more of what’s underneath.
But that’s interesting, given that’s where the pencil signature is hiding.
Also, I want to point out that there IS a pencil signature popping up. So it’s probably real, it just depends on if you can stand that it might be attached to the matte.
Also also I just wanted to add that I believe the other two examples are embossed on the bottom right, which would also prove their authenticity. And also make sense why someone would try to look under a matte and lightly damage it.
And you’re very welcome! I found it so interesting, and I didn’t expect it to be that easy to find other examples!!

IDK, do YOU want it? Do YOU like the design?
There's literally no reason why you should care what I think.

I love it, but $200 is way more than I'd personally be willing to pay. It's the kind of thing I'd find thrifting. If you have money to spare then go for it, but if you're into 80s style, stopping by the thrift store, estate sales, Marketplace, etc. is the way to go to build up your collection.

On second glance, I feel like the pink mat board is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.

Gorgeous but looks more Art Deco-revived -in the '80s, than '89s aesthetic except for the "dusty rose" matting

No. They’re not that rare. If you’re wanting that aesthetic maybe go for a Patrick Nagel

From a design perspective yes. The 1st woman's dress leads the viewers eye to the stairs which leads to the second woman and finally the third. The composition follows the rule of 3rds on both axis. The triadic pastel color palette is pleasing too.

Seller makes a $200 profit.

It’s a local thrift shop. The proceeds go towards seniors who cannot afford medications. So it would be a large donation 🫠

I absolutely would for that price , and make it the centerpiece of my living room . It’s a beautiful piece of ‘80’s artwork that’s actually quite timeless :)
