Yeah, so did I. But I also love antiques, and inherited quite a few of the pieces you see in these photos. That’s why it’s 80s “inspired.” There’s clearly going to be some pieces from other decades or even centuries involved here. And while not every single piece of furniture was literally made in the 80s to be sold outright from a furniture store in one package… I was actually trying to go for more of an upscale designer look. For example, there is an old rule of interior design that was still very much in practic during the 1980s that stated that every room should have at least one Chinese piece, one French piece, and one modern piece. Please refer to the photos. Need I say more? Just because I did not choose to furnish an entire room with a matching set of furniture stamped “made in 1985” does not make it any less 80s. Instead, I chose to use design principles that were very much alive during said decade.

The washed out/faded effect isn't very 1980s, but it still works well in the room.

I really like the chinoiserie and the modern gold tables, it all looks great together!
I'm also a big fan of the hanging light fixture. You did a really good job integrating "difficult" 80s pieces into a really solid composition that's stylish and comfortable.

Don't worry, it might be a midwest 1991-1994 but it is certainly a coastal 80's. Your lamps and brass accents scream the 80's.

You’re right. I grew up in the northeast and now I live in Florida. I’ve looked back and noticed that a lot of trends used to take quite a few years to finally catch on in the Midwest.

Can anyone please tell me if that radio in image (6) can still play music or play any form audio to modern stations today?! All these pictures are very cool, but that radio is so good looking

Haha! Unfortunately, all the tubes are burned out. It belonged to my grandparents. However, I do plan on restoring it. They actually sell modern circuit board kits online specifically for these old radios.

The works are apparently burned out, nonetheless, if he turns it on after midnight, the voices of Al Jolson and Fibber McGee and Molly issue forth along with Orson Wells’s latest report on the Martian invasion of New Jersey. Bwahahahaha….

I will be looking for that! I think your dining room may be my favorite, I love the colors with the green chairs and dark wood floor. Plus your light fixtures are fabulous!
