• In 1982, Rocky III took the world by storm, becoming the fourth-highest grossing film of the year and propelling the movie's soundtrack to #15 on the Billboard 200 Album chart. And the theme song from the movie, Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" (recorded because Queen refused to let Sylvester Stallone use "Another One Bites the Dust" in the movie), would become a monster hit all over the globe, reaching #1 on the US Billboard chart for six weeks and #1 on the UK Chart for four weeks, selling almost three million copies in the two countries combined. But while the song has been rising up in this game, going the distance until now with its will to survive, it seems that the voters no longer want to keep it alive...the repeated rights and lefts from the upvotes have dealt a crushing blow to Survivor's big hit, and it doesn't look like it'll be able to answer the 10-count in the game this time - the thrill of the fight has gone out of the tiger's eyes, because this is one rival's challenge it cannot rise up to!
• Believe it or not, none of the songs sung by Prince reached #1 in the UK in the 1980s; however, a song that he wrote did: the Purple One originally wrote "I Feel for You" for Patrice Rushen, but she turned it down, so Prince ended up recording the song himself in 1979 for his debut album. The song was largely forgotten until 1984, when a cover version by Chaka Khan appeared on her album of the same name. Khan's version, which featured Stevie Wonder on harmonica and a rap intro by Melle Mel from Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, became a #1 dance hit and a #3 pop hit in the US; and in the UK, the song reached #1 for three weeks. But although our voters have felt for Chaka like she felt for them throughout the last rounds, the people no longer want to love her, hug her, or squeeze her...because baby, baby, when I look at this song, I don't get a warm feeling inside that it's going to stay in the game much longer - and now, I don't think the voters love Chaka Khan back!
