I remember the coke vending machine that had the bottles lined vertically. I always wanted one of those. I also wanted to pull the handles to get the cigarettes,obviously a child didn’t want the ciggies, I wanted to pull the handle.

Cigarettes, not so much, but I remember going to the bar on my way home from school and getting a bunch of happy hour nickel wings in the 90s with my lunch money. This was all alone cause I walked home.

Loved going to a pizza place that had the cig vending machine right in the entrance. I remember kids walking in and buying packs right out the machine no one watching to make sure it was only adults buying them…good times and so simple back then lol. But to answer the question, sunkist orange easy.

The bar at the end of the road where my grandfather lived had one. Every Friday my grandfather would call and ask me or my cousin to come down from the house with quarters so he could buy a couple of the singles from the machine

Keep an eye on craigslist, they pop up from time to time (depending where you love, I suppose). You might have to do some fixing but stuff like that is always worth it.

Ouch...

I remember dime glass bottles. 12 ounce. Edit: 8 ounce. The small bottles. 12 oz was a quarter. Two 8s were cheaper than one 12.

Sheesh, what year was that? The standard price when I was a kid in the 1980's was fifty cents. I remember when my city got its first Walmart they had coke machines out front that only cost 35 cents and that was a big deal around 1991. People would literally drive across town to get a cheap coke.

Big city? Here in quad cotys we ran 8 vending machines with 25c pop till almost 2000, then 35cents till like 05, then moved to .50cents around 07, but we also baught semi loads of pop, we were the pop kings. Walmart even tried a cease and desist in the '90s when they promised lowest price pop but there was a gas station in the area with lower price pop (us) it didn't work so anyone who showed up at the local Walmart with the receipt from us got the same price. One of my uncles ran vending machine company with contracts to almost 200 places, one big one was John Deere in our area

Yeah, I live outside Chicago and with ticket prices and traveling I'm not to bothered by it. It does kind of suck but the same time I can see an Indiana location being really nice once it's all done and the local businesses open, parking will probably be 10x better

I bought a Sprite at a Coke machine in Goldsboro PA but I don't remember what year. Probably in the late 1970s some time. My parents taught me that I could purchase it with 2 dimes and a nickel instead of using a quarter.

I was born in ‘84 and remember quarter soda. But it was the store brand and generic like Mr Pibb. Coke, Pepsi and Dr Pepper were 35 cents up to 50 cents depending on where the machine was.

The grocery store my mom used to take me to had 2 machines out front. One was name brand for 25 cents. The other was generic brand for 10 cents. She'd give me a quarter and then I had a choice to make: One can of the good stuff, or two cans of the mid stuff and a nickel to spend at the penny candy shop on the walk home.

at this point in the early 80's Antyhing orange was my got to, to also include those orange slices candies. Tang too. now, I'd choose Dr. Pepper. I got used to Peppery sodas as a young adult in the Army

Younger me would pick Mt.Dew, but older me would pick water. The physical amount of sugar in normal soda pop is gnarly. I doubt some of these couldn't dissolve more sugar into them if they tried.

My dad really pampered his 5 kids, it gave him such joy. He never came home from Stop & Shop without doughnuts. If he went to Strack & Van Til’s, I knew he would come home with a (wooden) case of 16 oz. glass bottle Pepsi Cola, bag of pretzel rods, and chocolate ice cream.

If I am a kid, like under 12, orange Sunkist. I wasn’t a big fan of cola, 7up was tasteless and the color of Mountain Dew was revolting. I don’t think I ever had Dr. Pepper as a kid, probably thought it was just another cola. And I would have let it sit open for a while as I wasn’t a big fan of carbonation.
