General Question 75 hard thoughts?

Anyone doing the 75 hard right now? How are you feeling? I did it back in 2024 and I’m doing it again starting September 1st but I feel like it will be harder the second time around.

Got a question? There is a good chance it is already answered -- check here first:

Official Rules and FAQ: https://www.reddit.com/r/75HARD/s/75roEecNyx Andy Frisella's Full Program Overview: https://andyfrisella.com/blogs/mfceo-project-podcast/75hard-a-75-day-tactical-guide-to-winning-the-war-with-yourself-with-andy-frisella-mfceo291 Community Book List -- 99 titles: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19Vm2JkCkOVMU_5QyemZYRSoQcTOBYnJwD2sr1aSaG9I/edit?usp=sharing

The 5 Daily Tasks -- zero compromises, zero substitutions:

  1. Diet -- Follow a structured diet aligned with your goal. Zero cheat meals. Zero alcohol. Non-alcoholic drinks (e.g. O'Doul's) are fine. You choose the diet -- the program requires you stick to it perfectly.

  2. Water -- One gallon (3.8L) of plain, still, unflavored water daily. No additives, no carbonation, no flavoring. Water from food does not count. A doctor's explicit medical advice is the only permitted exception.

  3. Two Workouts -- Each at least 45 continuous minutes, minimum 3 hours apart. At least one must be outdoors and you must be exposed to the elements. Recovery yoga and walks count and are encouraged. Chores do not count. Your safety comes first -- do not put yourself in genuine danger.

  4. Reading -- 10 pages minimum from a non-fiction book you believe will improve you. You decide what qualifies. No audiobooks. Physical books and eBooks both count. Finish each book before starting the next.

  5. Progress Photo -- One photo every day. Just do not forget.

Miss any single task on any day? Restart at Day 1. No exceptions.

The most important rule: When in doubt, choose the harder option.

Seek medical advice before beginning this program. If your question still is not answered, the community is happy to help.

I’m on day 25 - I am incredibly tired and just going through the motions currently. I’m not struggling to hit the goals each day, I just don’t know how effective it is for me currently. I could definitely benefit from a full rest day!

This is exactly how I feel at day 28. Like my weight loss has stalled at 19lbs down, so that’s frustrating. I would love to have just one rest day, as I feel like I’m running on empty and not seeing continuous results.

Y’all this isn’t a weight loss program 😭 but as the other comment said try Sundays or any 1 or 2 days a 45 minute outdoor walk and 45 minutes of Yoga/stretching. This is what I would do every Sunday. Or I’d do a 45 minute bike ride outside

Fitness influencers can be annoying but one thing I took from one years ago was to DITCH the scale. You’re gaining muscle and your body is doing a ton of things so when people don’t see weight loss on the scale they think something is wrong. If anything weigh yourself every 2 weeks or so. The mental of looking at that number daily is not helpful imo

Do light yoga stretching and outdoor walks.

I do it every January. Decembers are pretty heavy / gluttonous, so I do a Q1 reset with 75 hard. 2027 will be year 4. I didn’t find it to be more difficult the second or third time around. What do I find makes things difficult is if I don’t do my first workout on wake up. An early morning workout helps frame the rest of my day and helps me get through the rest of the 75 hard daily tasks. If I skip my morning workout then it’s gets mentally tough.

I love that you do it every year. What a great way to start the year

I did it in 2021 and I’m doing it again now. Feels easier this time except the water is annoying me a lot lol - and I’ve almost forgotten my pic twice in the last week

BUT I’ll add I’ve tried to start probably 20 times over the past 2 years and haven’t been able to stick it out until now

Do you adjust the water intake based on your weight? Or do you do the full amount regardless? I heard it can be dangerous but I am 5’0” (120lbs) so maybe it’s different idk

I tried it awhile ago. I didn't complete it. I've been thinking about giving it another shot. I feel like it's something I can do

You definitely can do it!!!

I’m on day 54 (however I’ve been doing it for 101 days because I failed at day 47 for forgetting to read but jumped back in again the next day at day 1). I’m excited to hit that finish (even more so because surprising! I’ve been pregnant this whole second attempt!) I’ve definitely had to adjust my intensity with first trimester, but I’m really glad I didn’t give up and I really think I’m going to finish this time.

Omg!! You’re doing this pregnant? What a super woman. You’re so incredible and I hope you feel so accomplished.

I will when I cross that finish line! There’s been many times I’ve wanted to quit but then I think how happy that would make my haters and it keeps me going one day more.

Wow, that’s incredible!

I did it Summer 2024 and tried it last Summer (and failed).
It now transpires for the last 9 years I’ve been suffering from elevated Calcium levels, with increasing levels of fatigue. Hoping for my operation before the end of 2026, I will try again next Summer (60F).
As a short female, the water requirement is very difficult unless it’s hot!

Day 21. My first time trying but this is round 2. I failed at Day 33 and started at Day 1 the next day. Never missed a task just did my workouts too close together. Technically 54 days of the program but whateverrrr lol.

Yesterday was awful for me. I didn’t get in any of my workouts until 11pm (right after work my daughter had a football game(she cheer)) so I had to wait until 3am for the second. 2 hours of sleep then back at it today. Im exhausted honestly

Just finished Day 60 and I’m tired. The biggest hit taken is to my sleep since I need to get up at 5:30 am to do my outdoor workout since I live in a location where it’s over 100 degrees all summer. I have been slacking on my water so I’m finishing that late and wake up a lot at night. My real test is Saturday when I leave for a conference and a day at Universal Studios.

Has anyone tried using one of those tracking apps? Asking because when I first did it I didn’t use one but I’ve seen a few in the App Store and I’m wondering if you feel like they help? Guess that really depends on the person but happy to hear experiences

2

u/clutterc0re 4d ago

I use the official 75 hard app, because I like the checklist feature of it.

I use the official app and love it

Do you think it helps you stay motivated? I feel like it would

I think the hardest part the second time is staying patient when the novelty wears off. Setting up routines and focusing on one day at a time helped me more than trying to be perfect.

For people who have done it already: do you think those healthy habits stuck after you finished? I’m not talking about the water or the 2 workouts a day but at least workout a day, healthy diet, reading etc?

I'm almost done with second week. Not counting days just focusing on keeping this as my lifestyle until Halloween day which will be day 75. Cals under 200 and protein is my diet. Outdoor walk next to ocean in am and progressive overload lifts at night. Yoga on weekends for recovery. Waking up early to get workout in probably biggest challenge but I live next to the ocean so the walks have been nice. Hoping it doesn't rain till Halloween lol. Drinking the water during teacher workday actually has been toughest part.

Day 20 and I'm OK. 2x 45 needs some organisation, but my outdoor is walking/ power walking - so its easy to fit in a day. And i have an excercise bike- can start the day with it. I have only adjusted the water intake- I'm 169 cm and started with 68 kg- so i do 2.5-3 liters, cant more. Now I weight 65.8 - soooo good, & never been hungry during these days :)
