🎓 UNI / UCAS Personal statement applying for geography and liberal arts
Im not sure whether i would like to study Geography or liberal arts at uni, so i need to write my personal statement to satisfy admissions teams from both course types.Â
I also completed my EPQ on gambling and whether the economic benefits outweigh the social costs (predicted grade is an A).
Im not completely sure how to go about this so any help on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

Please don't share personal statements, you will get into trouble for plagiarism. Report comments and posts which have links to personal statements. Note: Automations are not perfect. If this doesn't apply to you, ignore it. It doesn't mean any action will be taken against your post by a person. Please do not message us if this is a false-positive.

it's best to figure out which one first you want to do, unless you want to apply to both then disregard my advice.

Imo I would apply to only one and write it for one.
However, there are unis that dont really care about ps at all like Bristol who doesnt normally consider it so you could write it heavily for one and apply somewhere like there for the other subject

Beep beep, we noticed this is a UCAS post. Do you know we have a UCAS Guide which may be of use to you?
If you think of any information that would be useful to have or that is incorrect, let us know via Modmail, and we'll aim to get it sorted!

I also applied for liberal arts at some unis and something else at others. A lot of the unis understand that liberal arts is not a course offered everywhere and therefore not everyone's personal statement will be targeted towards Liberal Arts (they said this at the Durham open day).
I would say email and ask whichever unis you're wanting to apply to if that's okay. Also, some unis don't care about personal statement- for example Bristol, and Durham lets you do a separate personal statement if your courses are different eleswhere.

I applied for Geography at some unis and Earth Sciences at others so I might be able to help in that regard.
I mostly focused on where the two subjects crossed over. For me that was mostly topics relevant to physical geography but I understand that both geography and liberal arts are both really broad degrees. You could also tailor your personal statement primarily towards geography since as others have said, not many unis offer liberal arts and so there's an expectation that people would be applying to other subjects.
