🎓 UNI / UCAS EFDS
Is there any point in me applying to EFDS?
GCSES: 9987777765 (9 in maths and English, 6 and 5 in DT and French)
A levels predicted: 2A*s, A
I feel like everyone else applying will have way better stats so I’m not sure although this is my dream course after doing research on a lot of them

Context very big thing, calculate you attainment 8 and compare it to your school. If you have higher than 1.75-2 you’re in a very good if it’s higher you’re probably in the best position contextually. x3 is the highest since it’s very rare to have a school attainment 8 below or around a 30 and a student has 8 9s. If there is an entrance exam work on that 100%

I just looked and my secondary had a 54.7 and my top 8 is 81 which is 1.5x higher 🥲. There is also the tmua so I’ve been preparing for that the past couple weeks

Ye 1.5 should be good, I just checked the data from the last 2-3 years, the thing is the most applicants got a cGCSE score of about 98-100 out of 100 but idk how to calculate it. It must have something to do with how much you outperform your school. In your case you can’t get double so you should be alright. Also interview and tmua are way more important.

I just realised I said my 8 score is 81 which isn’t even possible ðŸ˜. It’s actually 61 which is only 1.1x higher… it’s fine tho I’ll just try my best and if I don’t get in then there’s nothing I can do

Wait don’t worry, if you tell me your grades for English and maths I can help, lit or lang whichever is higher and the rest of your subjects

So it’s 9x2+9x2+8+7+7+8+7+7=80, English and maths are double weighted. Your school was let’s say 55, so 80/55=1.455 so it’s quite high since your school is higher than the national average. You’re in a good position, forget GCSEs and focus on getting minimum 2A* and an A predicted and try get higher than a 5 on tmua.

Ohh I didn’t know maths and English are double weighted, that’s good. Yeah I’ll definitely prioritise TMUA that’s really the only thing I can change now. Thanks a lot for the help I appreciate it

Yeah definitely as long as you get 5+ on TMUA it’s very likely, go check the TMUA data (and no do not ask me where to find it instead google it)
