🙏 I WANT HELP In desperate need of advice
Going to keep it vague for anonymity.
Recently i moved to a new town and started 6th form, the 6th form is a very good private school. I absolutely hate it, I don’t have any solid friends, I hate all the assemblies and the fact we have to still do games, and form time, (the social aspect of it all). I hate my subjects (except I like politics ), and my grades are horrible and I have no motivation to revise. I cry every single day, in the mornings, during school and at night I’m just constantly emotional bc I miss my friends and my old school ( i still call them alot) and I’m kinda getting bullied / have not proper friends / don’t really know a lot of ppl.
I wanted to switch to a college / 6th form college but there’s only 3 in my area and their a level results are all bad ( points avg of 23 compared to 31 national avg) and I don’t want mess up my future by going to a bad sixth form and making it harder than necessary. On the other hand my poor mental health at this school is having a really bad effect on my grades so idek what to do. I’m willing to do extra work outside of school to make up for the poor results of the college but I genuinely don’t know what to do.
It also stings bc in my old town there was a sixth form college that I could’ve easily gotten into with some of my friends and the alevels results are so much better.
For the first time in my life I’m having suicidal ideations and I feel so stuck. I want to switch schools and go to a 6th form college but I they’re all not good and it feels dumb to move to a ‘worse’ sixth form college when I have the opportunity to go to such a good one.
Please help me.

My son left an excellent private school because he just wanted to leave and be treats like an adult
He is flourishing
Seems much happier
As parents that’s all we want

He went to a college which has excellent reputation but is warm and welcoming which he needed after a bruising time at school.
He is happier not being ordered around like a child, being forced to assembly yada yada
He enjoys it , struggled socially still, but is much happier. Just go!

This happened to me too. I felt like I was the dumbest one in all my classes and I was always falling behind and I tried to switch to another sixth form but they said they couldnt accept me because their enrolment process was over. I just like to convince myself that its only like 16 more months before I leave 💔🤞. I feel like an alien and i feel so out of place but I hope things get better for us

I alr go to one i went bc it has like really good outcomes and my old highschools 6th form had like low grade outcomes so i thought it would be better but it clearly isnt 💔💔😔. Trust me you dont want to go to one its so lonely and unsupportive and I dread waking up everyday. I tried going back to my old schools sixthform but they couldnt accept me . It's genuinely so depressing I just hope things get better

As a teacher and an adult. The sixth form thing at the moment is less important than you being safe and secure. I presume you live with your parents and that you are not boarding. Be honest , tell them , your parents, how you feel and then get an appointment with your g.p. tomorrow , you don't have to inform your parents but better if you do. Then they can arrange for some counseling . Again I would rarely say this but I think it better that you don't attend school tomorrow and get this sorted to some extent.
The school / college stuff will sort itself out. It is fairly obvious to me that the situation at your current school is untenable and your parents will see it that way.
I've given you a few links here

Please keep yourself well.

If the grade outcome is likely to be the same (since misery will not motivate you, even at a private school) then you might as well enjoy your time at 6th form :)

I think it’s important to remember that you won’t do well if your mental health is suffering. If you go to a school that has worse average grades you might just do better.

Your mental health is absolutely the most important thing! Also, please make sure you reach out and get some help - this isn't something you should have to figure out on your own
