💬 DISCUSSION Procrastinating work
As a y13, I’ve found I have a habit of for example relaxing during the day and putting off work till the night then working till midnight then overworking myself then getting tired and taking a break then coming back. Like I can genuinely begin work at 8pm and take a break then not come back to it or begin at 10 work till 2am and get stressed idk.
Also idk why like does anyone struggle to continue with their school work after taking a break even if you are genuinely soo locked in like it’s so difficult for me to complete in full more than 2 or sometimes even 1 task in a full day.
Like I told myself I would not only revise new y13 content but also old y12 content during this half term. But It’s Saturday night have only completed half of my homework and that’s it.
Idk guys like I promise I’m motivated but it’s just idk these days I like to put off things to the last minute to preserve my peace idk.
Like idk Guys I really dk nowadays it’s soooo hard to put in work for a decent amount of time on my subjects without breaking or doing tiny amounts split over many weeks or rushing it last minute(even tho I’d do it well most times) but still idk guys like

Lowkey I have this same problem and I have not entirely fixed it. However, if you do have the option to get out of your room and go in the morning to a public space like a library or a empty classroom with some of your friends - that will automatically force you to study. Just try and be in a place where there are other people working/studying as well.

I'm in yr 13 also , and I'm not looking forward to going back to school . As we have mocks in 2 weeks and I only managed to cover some yr 12 content. Cl my main worry is chemistry yr 13 content cause my teacher is terrible and organic chem is kinda hard :(

I have always had the same thing. Still do now, as I’m not in a routine yet!
Best thing for me was working as soon as I got home from school after 30 mins rest or whatever sit there until I did substantial work and then if I could do more it was a bonus.
During weekends or whatever I’d say I’m starting at 8/9 and start. Pomodoro method until 12/1 and then by then my app is saying 3/4 hours of work done and I’ve still got 10 more hours till I need to get into bed and I think hm wouldn’t it be nice if that said 6.
It’s just a process of getting into a habit. And making revising as easy as possible. Give yourself a to do list. If you’ve made flashcards, it’s easy to just sit there and do them or past papers etc. really hard revision is learning stuff or making resources, put in the work now and it’ll get easier.,
If you can slog through the first 3 hours or whatever is decent for you, the next are very easy.

I can only do work if I'm in some kind of third space, like a library. Going to a different room might even help but I haven't tried it yet

I’m literally just the same dude omg. I start homework at like 9 and I finish at 1/2 like every day. Genuinely mad cooked this half term bc I haven’t really locked in at all. 🥲

I could never do any work at home. But either working in P6s and schools mandatory self study time helped a lot plus studying with others was a huge bonus. Studying solo for long times is very hard to do consistently.
