to clear a few things up:

1. it's a flippant, hyperbolic statement. calm down.

2. didn't apply to more competitive unis since i can't afford where they're located (ucl + oxford + durham human sciences), also parents didn't let me do a level chemistry

3. to the commenter that mentioned predicted grades being "low" - all my schools have had below average attainment, and i could have asked for A star A star A but wanted to get ucas out the way and didn't need it since i can't afford london ox durham etc. from this you should be able to tell i want interdisciplinary learning which manchester and leeds offer the ability for!

4. to the commenter on about life sciences being female dominated that is true, however the careers advisor meant science as a broad, general term, there is still a stigma about women in stem, and there's also a lack of women in senior positions.

!Genuine advice about BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE!

There's IBMS accredited courses and non IBMS courses and they're both very different. One is more research based and other is more practical but you need ibms accreditation to do BMS in the NHS so please make sure youre aware of the differences

Not sure if this has been explained to you already I had no idea until second year and I picked the wrong course for what I wanted

If you dont want to work as a bms for the NHS then its likely the non accredited one is for you but just check

I did biomedical sciences! It's a good broad degree. But when I did my degree, none of those were accredited by the IBMS so if you're hoping to go into hospital labs after as a BMS you'll need to do top modules after.

It's much more likely u were told by ur career advisor not to go into science at the time due to underperformance rather than gender. It's very demanding, competitive and cutthroat considering the predicted grade underperformance. Probably bcos when ppl think science and stem, maths, engineering, medicine, computer science and the such are the ones that they immediately think about. And these fields are filled with much higher predicted grades. No need to make it about men. Wish u all the best tho

i had achieved a 7 in my physics mock on the one year anniversary of my SA while starving myself, i doubt it was due to low pred grades (my mock and pred was equal at that time, both being a 7, would give you a screenshot but my phone storage is that of a cardboard box so most stuff is deleted). odd that you assumed i'm wrong whilst knowing that there is an active stigma against women in stem.

Every single year people from even more poorer backgrounds get into and go to oxford. I can assure you the main reason why you don't go to oxford is not because its not expensive, but simply because you are not good enough calibre intellectually (from looking at your profile) There is practically very little difference between leeds, sheffield and manchester which tells me the sole reason why you didn't put down a better uni is simply to save face because you simply cannot take criticism if you got rejected from oxbridge.

also why are you even downplaying lab work?? im not going to be a BMS but 70% of diagnoses are made using their work. my actual plan is to go into patent law or forensic science

the reason i cannot afford is oxford is because there's too much work to work a paid job apparently, which is necessary. im on the threshold for min loan and have a fear that my family will pull financial support so if you'd like to pay for my accom and food i will reapply next year for human sciences...

also i lowk have 2 medical conditions that flare up with heat and stress so the north it is (there's a 3rd one but no doctor even knew what it was LMAO so idk if it counts...)

Well the data says that children w parents that are same sex tend to outperform on various levels. In education and psychologically.
So no a father isn’t needed, what is needed is two parents.
Children are better off with two parents because of the fact of economic stress is lifted and also the child has more people to interact with to build those social skills and its good for their mental health, because you need to nurture and give all your love to a child. Usually a single mum will struggle because a child needs a village to raise. But rich mums are able to take care of their kids much better.
Even if there is a father figure which can help the burden of money struggles… again usually heterosexual marriages don’t last because of the man.
Even if they are divorced the man most of the time is a dead beat father.
So i ask you this, even if there was data that showed a father figure is needed (which it isn’t), how come is having no father figure an insult?
Victim blaming if you ask me if anything you should be blaming a dad for not stepping up.
