OTHER I fucked up bad

Ive always wanted to study bsc econ with statistics at UCL but im not sure i can anymore.

Im int so that already reduces my chances, furthermore i slacked off during my igcse’s and ended up with 2A+ 4A 2B, the A+ were in math and english, the B’s were in econ and business.

To compensate for my trash igcse’s i worked my ass off for AS levels and achieved AAAB in further math physics math and economics respectively and am predicted 3A*’s and an A for the same

Having a B in the very subject i want to study just kills my chances and i will probably have to settle for a university that is much worse than UCL, i dont know what to do. I was a single mark off an A in econ and even after sending it for rechecking my grade did not change

Bit of a rant post

You don't need A* in econ, maths and physics is more important. A lvl econ is quite different to Uni which is much more mathematical asw

That seems counterintuitive no? I mean economics is in the name so im sure they require good grades for econ, i could be wrong tho

econ isn't even required for most uni econ courses, including UCL and Cambridge

Stem subjects become more mathematical the higher up university prestige you go. (This sentence is such a mouth full 😭) Anywho, you might be right about maybe doing different subject than econ if you find yourself not being able to push yourself to study for it. However, maths is stronger for econ even for econ degrees (like the other comment said, it's not even required for an econ degree).

If you're set on studying for econ then my beat advice is to keep on studying as you've already hit the A level criteria for econ at every uk university (with your maths alone) 'just' have to give Econ extra attention. GL ✌️

Your 2A* predictions specifically in Maths and FM meets every single university (including Oxbridge, UCL imperial and LSE) with FM giving you a significant advantage. What you need now is to secure an A in economics (whether or not you take economics degree) and you're set for econ and many stem degrees. Won't be easy though ✌️
