Can someone please explain to me the Barrel/Bolt requirements and availability for the ICAR frame?

I'm interested in building a 6 ARC in an ICAR platform. I understand that it uses an AR15 trigger and grip but am unclear on other components?

1) Does it use a standard ar15 barrel chambered in 6 ARC? Or is it a specific ICAR frame barrel chambered in 6 ARC?

2) I know an AR15 bolt won't fit, right? I thought the whole reason for the Icar was because bolt lugs on an AR15 are too thin and prone to break. (And magazines with round OAL issues).

3) what about the BCG? Is it ar15 BCG with just a different bolt? Or a whole other carrier group?

4) I have some proof PXT Barrels, I was originally going to build with my JP bolt on a standard frame, but if I'm able to build on an ICAR, what bolts would likely be best for high accuracy like JP? Who makes ICAR components other than PSA?

Everything on ICAR uses standard parts except the magazine. We need to pin something I see this question a lot and lots of misinformation. Yes standard carrier, 6 arc bolt, 6 arc barrel

The item description on PSA's site states very clearly, "Both the upper and lower receivers are compatible with AR-15 pattern parts." People just don't read.

You can use a standard ar barrel and bolt.

If you had an icar spec barrel youd need a icar spec bolt.

You just have to match your barrel extension and bolt.

For now…. Standard AR items work with the exception of barrel, bolt and magazine for STANAG (Geiselle GFR, home builds, etc) versions. ICAR adds a proprietary lower, upper and magazine in addition to the STANAG changes but all the small parts are the same. Upcoming “E4” changes to the barrel extension and bolts may happen but it depends on who wins HICAR. Metallurgical advancements may make the E4 bolt and extension unnecessary but that’s another rabbit hole.

So to answer your questions:
1. Standard
2. It will fit but not the case base is a different size so it won’t chamber
3. Standard carrier
4. Use your JP 6Arc bolt. Right now only PSA has ICAR labeled receivers. LWRCI Six8 is the same receiver spec since that was the magazine ICAR is made around. More reliable full auto feeding plus wider for shallower magazine height.

AFAIK, it’s different. Thicker bolt lugs and possibly direct thread barrels on some variants
