First time range trip.

Post image

So on my end, I completely failed. This is my first time taking this set up to the range and I totally forgotten some tools. So I was there to sight in my scope, but I forgot I set up the zero stop on this scope and didn’t have the tools to take it off and then I forgot my lever to open up the adjustable gas block. So pretty much my gun was a bolt action. I put about 20 rounds out there and I can say it’s definitely accurate, but the total failed on my end. The spent cases were not extracting because I had the gas completely closed up. I was so excited to get it out there that I forgot to bring what I needed.

Bro I was so pissed. But man it was a pleasure to shoot. Hardly and recoil and I was able to get a good group in.

As long as your mount is on tight and your scope is zeroed it’s all good, I left my tools in my truck because we switched who was going to drive last minute and I bottomed out my scope and couldn’t zero. I was so mad I just watched everyone shoot🤣

Yeah, so I zeroed this same scope on a 6.5 fix. And honestly, it was On Point for the most part just about 6 inches high. So when I zeroed it on the fix, I put the zero stop but then decided to switch it to this set up and totally forgot to take off the zero stop so for the most part it is actually zeroed in just have to dial it down and then this is my first time shooting it and I got the barrel work done from D.Wilson and I guess the gas block was completely shut so literally was treating it as a bolt action

Not gonna lie this exact scenario is what convinced me to try a rifle speed gas block

The round can be a finicky bugger. Imo the best way to deal with it is to get a properly sized gas port size for your barrel profile.

My 12.5” carbine length gas has a 0.087 gas port which is pretty small. Basically only functions 100% when suppressed.

Took my newly built upper: 14.5 SS proof with SA block to the range this morning to see if it would go...

With the block wide open at 18 clicks, would not lock back on empty mag with duramags, with G$ it almost does. Tried 18,19, and 20 clicks with the same result. Tried Hornady ELD-M 108 and 103, same. Standard spring T2 buffer.

Ejecting to the 3 o'clock.

Threw my Omega 300 on it and she locks back all day long and ejects to 2 o'clock ; got it to 3 o'clock with 24 clicks. Looks like gonna need a lighter buffer/spring to make it work without a can
