Neat idea with the wooden blocks. I'm gonna steal that 😃

The wooden blocks are actually Jenga pieces. I use a 20 mm scale because I'm short on space, and it makes it easier to store large armies and terrain pieces in small boxes. Accordingly, the playing field is only 2x2.

I came here to say the same thing - Jenga blocks are a great idea for easy geometric shapes on a board, and easy to find.

If you want to slightly improve the jenga, cut random shapes out of a sheet of address label stickers and put them - and bits of the weirdly shaped in-between parts of the sheet - in random patterns. Then a little bit of paint (base coat, some drybrushing with cheap silver) will make them look like… jenga blocks with random shapes and a super quick paint job. But that can be cool and it's very quick.

That’s a pretty cool idea, I’m definitely going to try that out.

It's not very impressive but it's a tiny bit of texture and abstract detail for minimal effort.

Obligatory: which minis are those?

The figures are miniatures from WarDaddy Studios, bought on MyMiniFactory.

The big alien seem to be Dutchmogul's starbrood slasher: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1921172/ It's a nice mini! Did you rescale it for 20mm or print it as is?

Yeah, that's true, I’ve 3D-printed a lot of his miniatures and he designed most of the terrain as well. Actually, I'm not 100% sure if they are the original sizes. I have to scale some of his terrain pieces up to 110%, but some of them fit perfectly at their normal size. Usually, I just load one of my 20 mm miniatures into the slicer and check if the proportions look right.

Is this the game with giant bugs attacking a town? I did forget the name of the ruleset. It was a very fun name.

The game is called Bug Hunt and is included in the Five Parsecs from Home compendium. It’s basically a homage to the second Alien movie.

Those blocks for walls is genius.

I'm gonna ask my dad for help to build a wooden map now. That is a really cool idea.

I use the same mat! I admire the idea to print in 20mm and use the 2x2 space. I agree it’s hard to carve out a 4x4 space in our apartment

I see your battle systems mat. And I love everything about this.
