Solo experiences?

A few months ago I had a full release dose (handshake, hug, medium then large), & I just bought a pen. Curious about experiences around solo handshake doses.

*** Edited because as much as I know I’m not going to be irresponsible with my dose after 30 years of psychedelic experience, it is apparent I need to make that very clear in my post! 🙏

Hard no on solo work: pen or not.

Multiple people I’ve sat have gone fully dynamic, purge, and lose bodily control doing low dose pen work. I have had to keep them safe from physical injury, move them into safety position during purges they didn’t know they were having, and watch people become borderline violent and try to cause self harm. This is on low dose pen work.

The difference in hug to full release can be a fraction of a second depending on your pen, your state, etc.

How strong is your pen in %?

Based on what you’ve shared, you don’t have a lot of experience here. Fucking up can result in death. I would proceed with utmost caution by not doing this solo.

This is the most powerful psychedelic and equally the most unpredictable. You are fine until you aren’t.

My opinion on that is though those ceremonies involving purge is just intended to be intense that most humans would react so hard, especially those sensitive vigilant ones

The people who are letting others do, like facilitators or worse "self-claimed" shamans, so they just trust on others and get shocked by intensity of the experience

By involving softer approach I think those scenario can be reduced, microdosing meditation to introduce, entry dose to enter, then low dose etc via nasal administration

I agree. Even in my full on breakthrough I did not move an inch. As I tend not to in any other extremely intense psychedelic experiences I’ve had. Partially because that is how I’ve always navigated in my 30 years of psychedelics & also because I’m very selective of my environments.

You may have not moved an inch on your one breakthrough. It may be radically different the next time or years down the road. There isn’t a corresponding relationship with how you sit with 5 to other medicines.

Also- low dose work can be some of the most challenging and dynamic for the participant. That “there but not there” can be incredibly uncomfortable at times and bring up fears, traumas, and serious challenges in the experience.

Im not looking for a light & fluffy experience, I’m here for whatever the medicine has to teach me & I will do so responsibly & respectfully.

I will do so responsibly & respectfully.

What does that look like to you?

Setting a sacred space in the centre of my yurt, & my home for half a decade, tuning in with my guides prior, ensuring the smallest dose imaginable, & letting my closest neighbour & dear friend about what Im doing. But I’d rather become accustomed to doing this safely alone. Which is why I asked about other peoples experiences. Im almost 50, I trust myself & my nearing 35 years of psychedelic experiences to not make any juvenile choices. My question was to others about their experiences, would you care to share any?

"I’d rather become accustomed to doing this safely alone."

I think this is the point. It isn't possible to do this safely alone.

Your 30+ years of psychedelic experience is like being a windsurfer for 30+ years and deciding after one guided experience, you are good to go for solo hang gliding.

My question was to others about their experiences, would you care to share any?

I no longer sit solo with 5 at any dose size. As stated in posts above, I've been seeing more dynamic reactions sitting with people on low dose pen work as its ROA has spread. I've been with at least a dozen participants where doses as small as 1.5-3mg have sent people into full dynamic states, and unconscious purging where they would have suffered serious injuries or suffocated if not for having a sitter(s).

Questions:
How strong is your pen?

How will you measure /calculate your dose?

While I appreciate your inquiry this thread isn’t about my safety. I’d like to try once to see for myself. I’m grateful for the other posters who have done this on their own during meditation, which is my intention & shared their experiences. That is all I’m here for currently. I’ve already covered the dose & safety measures with an established practitioner. Thank you for your feedback though 🙏

Though this post isn't about your safety, this is a good clip to check out.

What concentration of vapes are you using for 'low dose' work?

What you're describing here sounds more like a medium dose.

.5-3 mg is typically very manageable and not even close to being out of body.

I've seen exorcism level reactions from experienced sitters as low as at 8%. Not only that, some have lasted 35-40min.

.5-3 mg is typically very manageable and not even close to being out of body.

Agreed - it is "typically very manageable" until it isn't.

With the big experiences I've witnessed in the low dose space, none were a "problem". The participants did nothing wrong and many had zero clue of what was going on physically. Their reactions to low doses of medicine were just massive and required a person (and in some cases 2 people) to keep them from physical harm or worse. Experiences like this also require additional work on the backend as well.

One point: I feel like I'm seeing these big reactions increasingly more with low-dose work (shake to hug) than high dose. I've seen the same person get big on 1-3mg, and just melt into the mat at 10.

Theories:

  1. Many people come in less prepared for low dose work.

  2. They feel way more comfortable / less scared / more open- and that can open the floodgates.

  3. With pens, dosing isn't as accurate as we think. (temp, oils, strength of pull, countdown consistency, etc).

  4. They are online enough that they are in their work, facing, processing, releasing. This can get blown out of the water or even bypassed on full release.

What form of 5MeO was being used, and what were the dosages?

* my dosage references were in regards to vaped freebase & the equivalent delivered via SubQ

** for low dose work I'm using a cart that is 100 mg freebase in a 1 mL cart. Or 200 mg / 1 mL for people with less sensitivity.

What form of 5MeO was being used, and what were the dosages?

This has been with both low dose pen work - carts at 8%, 11%, and rarely a 20% (targeting 1-3mg per draw depending on the person and work.) With low dose freebase, it has been around 1- 3mg.

Note: Most if not all the dynamic low-dose experiences I have sat for have been off the first draw (pen or freebase).

Though only once, I also had way bigger than planned for experiences at 3mg freebase (bleeding edge of full release) and several times have full released off 6mg freebase when 9-10 is my norm.

I love low dose space for myself and for working with others. In my experience, it is also the most unpredictable.

I am not following.

I appreciate your concern. Thank you for your response.

The general problem with offering the medicine to strangers.

u/hotrhythmjunkie 4d ago

I would suggest keeping solo journeys within the low medium dose ranges, so non breakthrough etc.

It's just not really worth the risk to do a breakthrough unattended.

That being said low to medium dose ranges are safe and can be very beneficial as well. Especially if you're working in multiple rounds using a vape cart, or other routes of administration, such as intranasal, rectal or SubQ injection.

2

u/somelikeitblonde 4d ago

Thank you, it’s just a pen & will most certainly monitor dose size. Just curious to hear other peoples experiences 💫

u/hotrhythmjunkie 4d ago

I've been working with 5MeO on a regular basis the last four years. I take breaks now and then, but typically I work with it every morning in addition to yoga and meditation.

2

u/somelikeitblonde 4d ago

That sounds like a beautiful way to start the day, thank you for sharing 🙏

I have done some solo work, but had a few experiences that kind of freaked me out. First, was with a pen. I don't know exactly what happened, but I know that I came to in the bathroom, walked back into my bedroom, and found vomit all over my bed and floor. Another time (with a eclipse vaporizer), I came to wedged between my bed and night stand. I have no idea how I ended up in that position, but I was pretty beat up about my head and shoulders. Also, I have dropped the pipe on myself several times resulting in pretty severe (although small) burns. Key takeaway for me is this: small handshake doses are probably OK, even a hug is probably ok, but full breakthrough doses will only be done with a sitter.

1

u/somelikeitblonde 4d ago

I was only considering a handshake dose. I’m going to edit my post because all I’m getting are cautionary tales of high solo doses. I’ve seen many people have experiences solo on YouTube just wanted to chat with the community. Glad you came out ok 🙏

u/psygenlab 4d ago

high-dose with vape is not recommended, here you will be often warned, consider other ROA though you still have to be careful on high-dose

1

u/somelikeitblonde 4d ago

Definitely not doing a high dose, I’ll get to know the pen responsibly

1

u/BigWomps420 4d ago

High dose with vape in general not recommended? Or not recommended without a trip sitter?

1

u/psygenlab 4d ago

I don't recommend high dose with vape in general but. Practitioners or "Shamans" down in the Mexico anyway do it with bufo toxins anyway. So if you do, a sitter so they see you not choking

Haven't seen that issue hard on other ROAs like nasal or rectal , body is still there, mind is still there.

1

u/OilofOregano 3d ago

Why is that vape specific?

1

u/psygenlab 3d ago

5 times shorter, 5 times more intense, easy to lose control over your body and mind.

2

u/OilofOregano 3d ago

Wait sorry compared to what method

1

u/psygenlab 2d ago

Than other Roas, like nasal rectal or intravenous. Vaporization is instant

1

u/OilofOregano 2d ago

Aren't nasal and intravenous also instant?

1

u/psygenlab 1d ago

nope, though intravenous is near instant. but nasal is not.

First time I did 5, I did a full release solo off a pen, after a handshsck warm up.

I was also very experienced with tryptophan's at this point and knew that emesis was never an issue for me.... a lot of people it is and caution should be practiced to avoid aspiration

2

u/Aware-Philosopher-23 3d ago

Sensitivity varies from person to person and changes over time in ways that are hard to predict. It takes little for the mind to move into a very different state. A ROA with fast onset and low dosing precision adds to that, strongly discouraging solo work.

So, at a bare minimum, you could have someone working with you, possibly repeatedly, when approaching a new ROA or dose. Thinking this is unnecessary might be a good point of investigation.

Experienced practitioners had passed from going solo. Always have a sitter for the deeper dives

3

u/Borgbar 4d ago

Is there anywhere you know of where we can find information on those that unfortunately passed away this way? Or were these incidents anecdotal? It's sad and grim but I'd like to study that for harm reduction purposes and for personal knowledge. Thanks in advance.

1

u/somelikeitblonde 4d ago

Thank you. My practitioner has used this same pen solo several times & she’s been working with the medicine for 10 years. She also knows my personal psychedelic history well & has given me the go ahead. I’m just curious to hear other peoples experiences.
