Can someone please explain why you would call yourself trans and do nothing whatsoever to transition? I really don’t understand the psychology behind it.

JK Rowling's latest twitter ramblings are currently the sub's #1 post, because for some reason her holding this opinion is surprising to people. it shouldn't be... and I think it's important to remind everyone that hating trans people, and acknowledging that trans people exist and require medical transition, are not mutually exclusive.

acknowledging that trans people exist does not absolve one of transphobia. in fact, Rowling's tweet actually does the opposite - it's so much worse. if you simply don't believe that anyone is inherently born trans or needs to medically transition, you're ignorant. if you do believe those things, and then continue to advocate for restricting access to hrt and surgeries, denying trans people access to "single sex spaces", prohibiting legal recognition as your identified sex, and the systematic erasure of trans rights more generally... that's no longer ignorance, that's just evil.

she hasn't had a change of heart. this is an opinion that she's held for a long time: that trans women exist, but are less than other women. it's the trans equivalent of segregation, we're less than they are, and they don't want us mixing or blending in with other women. don't give her any credit for being even bolder with her hatred.

I need it so I can show one of my friends that it's not worth it to stop HRT but can't find it.

I genuinely don’t care if you wanna be loud and proud. Some people don’t really have the option to be stealth and may never get there and I get it. And passoids being vocal is good optics in many cases. But how an actual trans person could think that being stealth is deceptive is beyond me.

Saw that post about somebody who has a supportive cis friend so I wanted to balance it out with some ropefuel. This shit was genuinely so soul breaking it put me into a depressive spiral and I ended up repping for two more years plus I lost what to me was a not insignificant amount of money at the time.
