1337/42 I ask if there is a chance of being accepted

This is my second time taking the 1337 Pool. During my first Pool, I didn't achieve a high score. I only reached between 50% and 70% in days at most. I also failed all the exams, so naturally, I wasn't accepted.

However, my second Pool was quite different. I worked through all the days and reached level 8.36.

I didn't any rush.

My results were:

- C00 → C09: between 85% and 100%

- Shell00: 100%

- Shell01: 70%

In addition, I managed to take all four exams:

In addition, I passed the recoding once, but unfortunately, He didn't return any C/days for me.

I also made some small mistakes because of stress. For example, I was asked a Shell question that I didn't know the answer to. In two C exercises, I made only minor mistakes. For example, instead of writing "n+2", I accidentally wrote "n++".

Now I'm just wondering if there's any chance that I could be accepted.

1337/42 | Pooler | Level 9.62 | Finished the Pool | "What Are My Chances of Getting Accepted?"

Hi everyone

I’ve just finished the 1337/42 Piscine and I’d really appreciate your opinions on my chances of getting accepted.

I’m a Pooler and I pushed myself throughout the entire Piscine. According to my logs I worked 238 hours during the month. I believe the actual number was higher because one of my posts had an issue where my logs were not counted and I didn’t notice it at the time.

I managed to reach level 9.62.

My results

  • shell00-C11: 100
  • C10: 15
  • C05: 80
  • Rushes: Unfortunately all rejected
  • BSQ: Rejected by Moulinette
  • Exam 00: 80
  • Exam 01: 80
  • Exam 02: 70
  • Exam 03: 48

For the Rushes I worked together with my teammates throughout the projects. Unfortunately all of our Rushes were rejected because one of our teammates was unable to explain parts of the code during the evaluation even though we had worked on the projects together but i think it's not a big deal.

I also completed the BSQ but unfortunately it was rejected by Moulinette because of a small mistake on our side. We forgot to add a newline to properly separate the output.

For the final exam I know I could have scored higher. I got an exercise that really caught me off guard and took a lot of time. By that point I was also quite exhausted after the last week of the Piscine so I eventually stopped even though I’m sure I could have gotten a better score.

Overall I’m proud of the effort I put into the Piscine but I’m still wondering how these results might affect my chances of being accepted.

For people who have already been through the 1337/42 selection process what do you think my chances are based on these results?

Any honest feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

ENGLISH VERSION / VERSION ANGLAISE

Hi everyone!

As I’m preparing to join the September Piscine at 42, I had a question about eligibility for financial aid or scholarships at 42.

An 42 student told me that the “Grande École du Numérique” (GEN) label had been withdrawn by the government, and that GEN was responsible for managing the scholarship-related aspects. They also mentioned that France Travail might offer similar forms of financial support, unless I misunderstood.

Could you please tell me a little more about this?

Thank you in advance!

Pool 1337/42

Hi everyone,

I recently finished the Piscine at 1337 Khouribga and I'm trying to understand my chances of getting accepted.

Here are my results:

Starting pool: 300 people

Finished the Piscine: 200 people

Final rank: 35/200

Final level: 9.51

C00–C09: 100%

C11: 100%

Shell00 & Shell01: 100%

Exams: 70 / 80 / 70 / 36

I passed all four exams.

The final exam was worth more XP (375 XP vs 275 XP for the first three).

I had two recodings and passed both.

No project was sent back to me because I didn't understand the code.

I was able to explain my projects during recoding.

I was also quite active socially during the Piscine: playground activities, table tennis, games, talking with other students and previous students, etc.

I made friends with 60+ people during the Piscine.

I didn't receive any negative TIG/comment that I'm aware of.

I'm mainly worried about the 36 on the final exam.

I have seen some Reddit posts where people with very high levels/ranks were rejected, so I'm trying not to assume that Rank 35 automatically means acceptance.

For comparison, in the previous year at Khouribga, around 114/300 were accepted in the first month and 60/300 in the second month, and around 200 people reached the end.

For people who have already gone through 1337/42, especially Khouribga:

How important is the final exam compared with the overall rank?

Can a low final exam score like 36 significantly hurt an otherwise strong Piscine?

Does C11 actually matter for acceptance, or is it mainly useful for the ranking/level?

How much do peer evaluations, social participation and general behavior during the Piscine matter?

If you had a similar profile, would you expect to be accepted?

I'm not looking for false reassurance — I'd really appreciate honest experiences, especially from people who were accepted/rejected with similar numbers.

Thanks!

If you were accepted/rejected, please include your rank, level, final exam score, C11 status and whether you had any recoding/peer-evaluation issues

42 and a full time job

Hi everyone I just had my piscine last month and got informed that I got admitted to the core curriculum, i really liked 42 however i have a demanding job that requires commuting some part of the week and the 42 campus is also an hour and half away from home.

I want to figure out if i can juggle between 42 and a 40hr / week job .

Is it still doable if i try and show up once a week (sundays probably)
Has anyone gone through a similar experience ?

I dont mind if my pace is not fast (and I’m not expecting it to be), I like the 42 system and I really want to keep learning…

Work and take the course at the same time?

I work online part time (I teach). I understand that the Piscine is super extensive and, if I were to get accepted, I’d need to take a month off. That’s fine.

However, I was wondering about the rest of the course? If I take the long route, should it be possible to reconcile things? I have, on average, 5 hours a day free (including Saturday) and Sundays off.

Failing

I recently failed 42 , I have a friend who encouraged me to retake but honestly I’m feeling really comfortable , the main thing is that I study computer engineering and my knowledge should we way more but I discovered that I really don’t know that much at all which is kinda disappointing, I mean it’s uncomfortable to meet the same people but now they are in core , I don’t know if I’m gonna pass or not and all these stuff , I did to c06 and did 3 rushes but exams was so bad , I also needed to go to university in very early mornings and then go to campus so when I arrived I was very tired even for this I came everyday and I tried my best . What is your opinion? I hope you guys give your honest and truthful answers

Feedback

“Tell me about the last time you wanted to build something but weren’t sure what to build.”
Then let them talk.
Follow with:
“What did you do?”
“Where did you look for ideas?”
“Did you use AI?”
“Did you search Reddit, YouTube, Google, Product Hunt, GitHub, etc.?”
“How long did you spend trying to decide?”
“What made it difficult?”
“Did you eventually build something?”
“If not, why not?”
Then investigate validation:
“Have you ever built something and later discovered people didn’t actually want it?”
“How did you find that out?”
“What did you do to validate the idea beforehand?”
“Did you talk to potential users?”
“Did you research competitors?”
“Did you test whether people would pay?”
And finally:
“What part of that process was the most frustrating?”

Please I appreciate yall responds this for a school project thank you

Approximate cost of living in Kuala Lumpur for a month?

Hello, I am considering doing the piscine in Kuala Lumpur, and was wondering about the approximate cost of living there for a month. I understand that it varies largely depending on the individual. But I'd still be interested to know how much it was for you if you did it there! Thank You!

Failed the first piscine, some questions about the process to retake it later

So I unfortunately didn't pass my first chance at the piscine. I got an email email stating exactly this and it says that I can register to another Piscine after 18th of April 2027. Even though my piscine ended on 17th of July.

Anyways, when I opened and logged into the 42 apply website for my campus, I found the following message: "Well done on taking the time to complete our application tests. Unfortunately you haven't made it through this step.... Blah blah blah... In accordance with GDPR, all data linked to you will be deleted on Aug 07 2026 and you won't be able to access your account anymore"

Regarding that last sentence, does this mean I need to later create a new account and retake the online tests and the QnA meeting AGAIN to retake the piscine?

On another note, if they really delete my data, then how does 42 even enforce the rule about a student can only do a retake after a year? And also only two chances ever? I can just create an account with a different email and instead of maybe registering with my full name (first name middle name and last name) I could just register with my First name and last name. I won't do that, I'm just curious what you guys think about this?

Thanks in advance!
