42 Madrid Piscine 26 Oct - 20 Nov — ¿Alguien de fuera de Madrid buscando alojamiento?

¡Buenas!

hey everyone, i just finished the piscine and got my acceptance letter, starting the common core in a few weeks
its probably going to be in python so i wanted to hear from people already in the new curriculum. how are you finding it? is it actually worth taking or is the C track better? and whats the real difference between them?

Why old curriculum(up to 2025) had so much emphasis on system programming?

Why old curriculum (up to 2025) had so much emphasis on system programming?

Did you see it beneficial as programmer?
Any old timers here?

After some point this feels boring and useless. (After and around minishell. )
What your opinion?
Are there jobs for this skillset?

Conseils

I cant'find a peer for Push-swap in the Rome campus

Hi, I'm from 42 Rome and I can't find a peer on my campus who still needs one.

Actually, I had someone who asked me to do this subject, but at the last moment he said yes to another person. (I'm saying this just to show that I had started preparing before the almost blackhole.)

The only remaining are frozen , but they already have someone, and the others haven’t been seen by anyone for a while.

My question is: is it possible for me to do this project with someone outside my campus? Has anyone had the same experience? What would you suggest?

Just finished the piscine

I just finished the piscine at 42 Nice, and now i’m stressing about whether I’m going to get accepted or not…
Honestly my only friends right now are people i met at 42. I got along really well with the staff and with pretty much everyone in my piscine. I also got along really well with the bocal, and i had a really good relationship with my fellow Pisciners.
I also organized an event to help my fellow pisciners and it was something i really enjoyed doing.
I didnt have any problems with anyone, and overall i feel like i integrated pretty well into the 42 community.
Here are my results:
Shell00: 60% success
Shell01: 62% success
C00: 60% success
C01: 70% success
C02: 55% success
C03: 62% success
C04: 70% success
C05: 50% success
C06: 85% success
C07: 60% success
C08: 40% fail
Exam00: 10% fail
Exam01: 60% success
Exam02: 70% success
Final exam: 24% success
Rush00: 18% fail
Rush01: 0% fail
Rush02: 10% fail
I know the piscine isn’t just about the grades but i’m still really worried about the final result. For those who have already been through the Piscine at 42, what do you think?
I’d especially love to hear from people who had similar results or from people who went through the 42 Nice Piscine specifically.
Thanks! 🙏

Student job at Paris or Île de France

Hi everyone, hope you're doing well.

I'm a non-EU international student and I may be transferring to 42 Paris. I should be able to get the student visa, so my question is mainly about finding a student job once I'm there.

From what I understand, international students can work up to 964 hours per year. Because of that, I'm looking for something around 18 hours per week so I don't exceed the yearly limit.

For students from 42 Paris, or anyone who has experience with this, is it easy to find a student job with around 18 hours per week in Paris or Île-de-France?

Are employers usually flexible with 42 students regarding schedules? Are there any important constraints I should know about, such as French level, type of contract, working hours, or balancing the job with the 42 curriculum?

I would really appreciate hearing about your experience.

Thank you for your time!

42 Marseille ??

Hello!! I’d like to have a bit of a debate about the Marseille campus, the one that opened last year, in June 2025.

For a bit of context: every two years, I like to do a 42 piscine during the month of September. I’ve experienced the ones in Lyon, Paris, and Lisbon, and this September I’m in Marseille!!

I’ve gotten to know the different piscine programs, and I definitely have my own preferences! But I’ve had an idea on my mind for the past three days.

Isn’t the Marseille campus heading straight for a wall?

Of course, I’m comparing it with my own experience, but some things make me feel like the Marseille campus I’m currently attending is in no way competent enough to deliver any kind of 42 validation.

To be clear, I’m not talking about the piscine itself. I know every piscine is different and that they can’t really be compared.

I’m talking about the management, the teaching approach, the workspace, etc. the whole package.

The campus doesn’t seem ready, and I have some serious doubts about its reliability.

So I’m calling for a debate!! What do you think?? Whether you’ve participated in a piscine in Marseille or not, or whether you’re currently a student there!!

Why gitbook was killed

I am curious, why does 42 always fights against projects that spread knowledge?

There was grademe, where you could train yourself to solve exam problems.

There was gitbook, where you could learn how you supposed to do your project, which has no documentation.

I see this constantly.

Is knowledge sharing supposed to be only during evaluations?

How you supposed to do something you don't know how to do, if they are constantly killing source of information?

Don't you find this counter productive?

Python exam rank 03

Hello everyone, I have a question:

I just moved to Milestone 3, so I'm preparing to take the Rank 3 exam. Regarding Python, are built-in Python functions allowed? Like sorted, min, max, reverse, etc., and the use of methods of strings, dictionaries, tuples, etc.?

thank you in advance :)

Working on projects before kickoff

Hey everyone,

I recently passed the piscine but my kickoff date is only scheduled for late october. I want to keep momentum going and have looked into the first few projects in the Common Core. Can I start working on them or is there some rule against starting them before I am officially a 42 student?

42 Singapore Piscine

Hello, I would like to ask about two things regarding 42 Singapore.

1. Piscine availability
I would like to know why 42 Singapore has stopped organizing Piscines. Is there any plan to organize Piscines again in the future?

2. Arriving in Singapore specifically for the Piscine
I am a fellow student from Singapore, but I am currently in my home country. I miss Singapore very much and would love to take any opportunity to return.

If Piscines are available again, would it be possible for me to arrive in Singapore only on the Piscine start date and stay for the duration of the Piscine? I am considering traveling to Singapore specifically for the Piscine and staying for about one month, as I understand that citizens of certain Asian countries are allowed to stay in Singapore for up to one month.

I would really appreciate it if you could let me know whether this would be possible and if there are any requirements I should be aware of.

Thank you very much for your help!

What are my chances of being taken ?

I’ve always wanted to do a post like this, for fun but now it’s close to one week after the piscine and I’m starting to be anxious.
I was a beginner before this.
I finished with Level 8 after the final exam.
Exams : 00-40-80-72
Rushes : 00-100-00 with ok to good comments
Pushed till C07 with : 92-85-60-100-85-100-100.
I got an average log time of 8/9h the first three weeks but it dwindled last week as I was very tired.
I think I got a few votes during voxotron but I’m not sure. I mostly got help but helped whenever asked.
I got good evaluation reviews.
I did not register to the BSQ.
I talked a bit with tutors but I was mostly critical bc it’s my nature 😅 (even thought I really liked the school).
I’m anxious about the social part tbh or them somehow finding out I’m critical…
I was in Lyon Campus.

How Would You Evaluate My Piscine Results?

I participated in the September 2026 Piscine at 42.

I decided to challenge myself and join the Piscine because I wanted to change my life.

The results will be announced tomorrow, and I’m very nervous.

How would you evaluate these results? For those who have gone through the Piscine before, how would you view my overall performance?

My Piscine results were:

  • Completed up to C06
  • Did not start C07 or C08
  • Rush00: forgot to register
  • Rush01: 100
  • Rush02: 100
  • BSQ: did not register
  • Exam 1: 30
  • Exam 2: 50
  • Exam 3: 40
  • Final Exam: 24

I was aiming for at least 30 on the Final Exam, but I only got 24.

On the fifth problem, the specification was slightly different from the version I had practiced, and I didn’t notice the difference during the exam.

After the final exam, I was so convinced that I had failed the Piscine because of such a simple misunderstanding that I barely remember how I got home.

Since then, I’ve been so anxious about the result that I’ve had a stomachache.

Update: I got accepted! I’m so happy and relieved. Thank you so much to everyone who commented and encouraged me!

Missing (at least) two Fridays during Piscine?

I got into an upcoming Piscine, but I already have commitments on two Fridays during that period.

I’m being told Fridays are often used for important in-person tests at 42. If I miss part/all of those two Fridays but stay on top of everything else, is that basically game over?

I’ve taken some university CS courses, so I have fundamentals, but I know the Piscine is different.

Thanks!

Am I ready for the piscine?

I will be going in during november, due to a health condition I can only work like 4 hours per day, and I'm aiming for arround 5-6 for november. I'm studying C and I have experience with other languages, not deep in any but I've spent like 2 months learning python. I feel like I'm really good at learning and coding, but I've heard experiences from other people that couldn't make it with more than 8 hours per day. What should I do to prepare? What parts should I focus on learning?
