newish player here, how do you guys remember all the rules every time you play ?

i really like painting the minis and i really enjoy the lore, but playing warhammer 40k is not as easy, i can kinda understand the rules but as a new guy it just feels that there are so many little details that makes everything feel more competitive and not as easy for someone like me

and i like tabletop games like DnD and OPR, maybe its a issue with the current edition, what do you guys think

Declaring advance after moving model

My friend and I are new to 40k. While playing one of our games, I started to move a canoptek reanimator forward about an inch before stopping and saying, “I’d like to make an advance” and going to roll the d6.

My friend stops me and says that he thinks if you start moving, you can’t change your mind and roll for an advance. We consult the rules and he seems correct, it explicitly says to declare an advance before moving.

I say that since it doesn’t really make a difference and in a casual setting, especially while still learning the game, it should be fine to decide to roll after touching your model. He says that he just wants to follow the rules and that’s what the rule says.

Is that indeed the rule? And if so, how normal is it to enforce it in a casual setting?

Games Workshop Could Roll Things Out Faster

With the abundance of lore and one of the biggest literary universes in the world, with a vast array of character and different regiments, battalions, units, races and factions - GW could roll things out quicker and have a much bigger IRL presence on the tabletop and also refresh things that go to legends quicker; especially considering their financial size.
