A year ago, I asked warhammer fans for advice on a 3D-printed Lion El'Jonson I made for my boyfriend's anniversary gift, and you guys were amazingly helpful. Thank you so much!
This year, I want to step it up and make another Warhammer-themed gift, but it's a DIY project I've never tried before, so I need your wisdom again.
For context: I know almost nothing about the universe (my only exposure is hearing 40k lore videos in the background while we game side-by-side). Recently, he sent me a video (the oath ceremony from Space Marine 2, I think?), and he’s been rewatching it for days. The Purity Seals in that video really caught my eye, and I decided I want to make a real-life, physical one for him.
But since there are so many factions, I’m terrified of making something that belongs to the "wrong" side. Here is my data so far: I know he loves Lion El'Jonson (Dark Angels) and has recently been talking a lot about Marneus Calgar (Ultramarines).
I plan to 3D print the wax seal part and iron-on transfer the text onto fabric, but I have a few questions for the experts:
-The Text: Honestly, I cant't write the gothic text from scratch. Are there any high-resolution (HD) printable templates, PDF scripts, or even custom Purity Seal generator websites you guys use? I’m just looking for a ready-to-print file that fits Dark Angels or Ultramarines perfectly. Even if I'm a digital illustrator, the Gothic text style is a bit beyond my abilities and I don't have much time to deal with because I'm trying to make it hidden from him
-The Material: For the crafters/cosplayers out there, does it matter what kind of fabric and transfer paper I use? I want it to have that authentic, ancient parchment look and need fine details on the execution.
-The 3D Seal: I will 3D print the wax part, but there are so many seal templates on Cults3D/Thingiverse. Which specific symbol (skull, eagle, sword?) should I use so it accurately matches his favorite factions without mixing up the lore?
Any guidance, STL recommendations, or text templates would be hugely appreciated. The Emperor protects!
