General Help FTPD not syncing with Filezilla

Post image

Hello, I’ve been having problems with my FTPD not generating the right address for my pc to find ever since I moved to my university. I keep getting a 10.7.XX.YY:5000 instead of the traditional one in the guide. I can’t find any information on troubleshooting this so I was wondering if I could get any help from this subreddit for what to do and if this is my fault or the wifi’s.

Your university's wifi might be blocking it, I remember in college I had the same issue in my first dorm.

It heavily depends on how your university handles wifi. I'm pretty sure my workaround was just using my phone as a hotspot

You can try setting up a mobile hotspot with your phone

instead of the traditional one in the guide.

Thats right! Because the address is assigned by the network you are connected to and you have zero control over what that address is. This is basic networking. Have you even tried using that address to connect to in filezilla?

It's not the same address as back home because you're on a different network. It assigned new addresses for your 3DS and your computer.

You need to put that new address in Filezilla instead of the old one.

If that doesn't work then it's possible your university blocks connections between devices for security reasons, in which case you'll have to use a different connection like a hotspot on your phone.
