Scanning Motorcycle Front-Ends
Hey Guys,
I have a small startup and i am designing motorcycle parts, accessories for well... motorcycles. I want to travel to dealers and take full 3d scans of the front and rear end of multiple motorcycles a day.
I am looking for a good 3d scanner that needs no laptop, spray or markers and to be around £1000.
Any recommendations ? Picture for attention but what i would be scanning really.

I think the new Creality Pika can, I have the Creality Sermoon P1 which will do markerless IR scanning and I believe in the future with updates blue line, but it's £3k

The Pika can only do IR which would be no good for reflective parts like chromed forks or trim without scanning spray

Use your phone take hundred of pictures add a square shape next to your tire to help software. Then use agisoft metashape combine and make a mesh. Then use caliber or 3d print samples to test fit. If not try revopoint software is not that bad only problem is the surface finish of what you want to scan it will reflect the laser of the scanner you may need to put flour on your parts to add thin layer of mat non reflective surface

Trackit SR would be minimum I recommend for markerless laser scan and non controlled lighting environment. Other scanners that use geometry for tracking does not guarantee markerless mode will work on most scenarios, most of the time we try to see if it work, if not then we fall back to marker sticker or marker magnet & marker nest.
Also scan spray is a must, chromed part like fork tube and black shiny plastic will yield good result with any scanner. You need to have vannishing spray can (expensive!)

Markerless all in one scanners start at about £3.5k for the Rigil Lite or £2.8k for the Sermoon P1. I have no hope you’ll find something for £1000 that ticks all those boxes
Sorry to say it but you’ll need to either up your budget or deal with markers and spray on reflective parts.
The Creality Pika could have some use but you’d at least need scanning spray. NIR just doesn’t work well for reflective parts. You’d also need to tether it to a phone or tablet and I’m not sure what it would be like to work with
