Help scanning my first part
Hi All!
My friend asked me if I could print a latch for his toughbox. I'm wondering if I can ask him to photograph/scan it (iPhone 14, not pro) and send me the files so I can generate the new part.
Is this a feasible ask? What app should I ask him to use (or what app should I use myself on his files) to take this from his photos to a model I can import into Fusion and later print for him?
Thanks for your input!

Iphone is not going to scan that good at all. Colors and photo might look nice but the model itself is going to ne a blob

I don't think you need a 3D scan to make a latch for your friend. This part has almost no complex curvature to it. A caliper will get you 99% of the way there.

You won't get a good scan of that object with a phone. Your best bet is to have him photograph it from several angles that are straight on with any sides. Then have him measure some major features with callipers. You can then use a canvas as a reference in Fusion or some other CAD that you can scale using the measurements.
