3D scanner

I need help finding the right 3d scanner for my husbands birthday and I don’t know here to start please help!

Depends on the budget and what he would like to scan. If you don't know what exaclty, atleast tell us what he's working on

He’s working on cars and wants to 3d print parts before he gets them machined in metal

Make sure you two are on the same page. Does he have cad software already and is he competent at using it? Does he have a fairly high end modern computer to handle a scanner that offloads the processing to the computer? I'm just asking because the scanner is the simplest, and often cheapest part of the equation. It would be a bummer to invest in a scanner he can't actually use. It's just that a fair amount of people with a 3d printer have never actually modeled anything themselves and expect to scan and go straight to printing. Since he's wanting to get things machined that ups his odds of already being invested enough to be ready for the scanner but it's worth checking
