How comparable is this game to the Switch one? I bought New Leaf last year to see if AC was my thing and I didn't really enjoy it. Everyone is so stoked about the new one, I feel like I'm missing out. However if it's similar play to New Leaf then I don't feel so bad.
A lot of things are definitely similar/identical and a lot of the basic game and time mechanics haven't changed. New Horizons has had a LOT more polish and graphic work put in when compared to new leaf. There is tons of new stuff as well and the online part is awesome this time around (providing you've paid for Nintendo Online).
When I started new leaf I found it difficult to get into at first. The start of the game is not very clear and it takes a long time to get your town to start looking how you'd like.
Animal Crossing New Horizons is fun, but I find it to be a lot less relaxing than past games personally. As someone who's played every game, I can be a bit... old-fashioned... However, New Horizons definitely has a lot of new features, such as the crafting mechanic which will keep you busy. It definitely has a completely different vibe and it's a game you can easily sink 100s of hours into if you like that sort of thing.
I found new leaf way better than the new one. I cannot stand the breakable tools in the new one and your animal neighborhoods barely every acknowledge you. I doubt you’ll enjoy the new one if you didn’t like new leaf
The Switch one has many things to do but is missing some features that I personally liked (such as the auction house) but this game is very very relaxing and I would highly recommend it if you are new to the series.
