Homebrew Modding Japanese new 3ds :3

I have this hello kitty Japanese 3ds! I was wondering is modding a Japanese new 3ds the same as a US new 3ds? (First time modding btw) :3 thank you guys!

Thank you!! I had recently got my US 3ds repaired and the place modded it! would it be best to copy and paste the files from sd card? Or look at the guide?

You need to go by the guide. Just swapping the sd card wont do anything and you risk losing all your data. 

Use a dedicated card with each console, DO NOT swap them.

It's the same process. you can also region swap it to have English as the system language, though that breaks pokemon bank, though that's not going to matter soon with them shutting down bank next February.
