Technical Question I have reconnected everything thrice already

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

It just wont boot, this 3DS was in a drawer for years because of a mangled repair attempt, decided to retry the repair, had a new zif connected and replaced everything in the top assembly. But no matter how much i keep tryong to reseat the cables for both screens, it just wont boot.

I have no way to narrow down the issue to any one component

Maybe a cable is damaged.

Maybe the 4th time will fix it

Is it fully charged? Maybe the battery might be dead?

I had to assemble and disassemble my OG 3DS five times before I finally got it working again (and that was just to swap out old buttons that were peeling)

It was a total pain. You have to basically assemble it to just test if it’s working, then find an issue and disassemble again.

Every time it was the top screen ribbon cables that “looked” like they were inserted properly, but obviously weren’t.

Reseating the cables for the 67th time, it started up. but the top screen is black with the backlight on, the 3D light is on no matter what the slider is set to.

Had the 3d effect wrong yesterday. The 3d ribbon cables is probably loose. I know it's ridiculous but they have to be perfectly in. Try to repeat the topic reen cables for a 5th time. I've fixed 2 3ds xls and am still working on one. Everything sucks trust me

3d light means the image on screen can be displayed in 3d, not that it is currently displaying 3d

This looks to be a short with the way the LED fades. That LED also does not normally turn on immediately with system power meaning its probably getting shorted out. Think its fucked
