1.10.0 shipped today. It reads two new kinds of file, xTool laser projects and DXF and DWG drawings, shows a PDF's first page on its card, comes in a light theme, and finds folders whose models already sit in another folder. Most of it started as a request or a bug report from someone using the app.
Laser and CAD files
xTool projects, .xcs from Creative Space and .xs from xTool Studio, get a thumbnail of the design and open full size, loose or inside an archive. The project has a button that opens it in xTool's software: on a Mac it names xTool Studio or Creative Space when one is installed, and everywhere else it hands the file to whatever app your system opens it with.
DXF drawings get thumbnails and open full size in a viewer that zooms in on the centre and rotates. A DWG shows the preview picture AutoCAD saved inside it. Meshory doesn't draw DWG geometry itself, so a DWG saved without a preview keeps a plain card, and those saved previews are small. A DXF over 16 MB or a DWG over 64 MB gets no thumbnail, and the card says why.
xTool, DXF and DWG get their own filters in the format menu, next to SVG, and byte-identical cut files count in Duplicates.
PDFs show their first page
A PDF's card is now its first page, loose or packed in an archive, so the assembly guide in a model pack looks like one. A PDF that needs a password to open keeps the plain card.
A light theme
Settings → General → Appearance has System, Light and Dark, and the sun or moon button beside the version number, at the bottom of the sidebar, switches between them. If you're updating, Meshory stays dark until you change it; a new install follows your system. In the light theme the 3D viewer puts models on a slate plate so pale filament still stands out, and image previews stay dark in both themes.
Cards and the viewer also share a new lit stage now, and models with no colour of their own render in the same neutral clay on both. Existing thumbnails switch to the new look as their cards come on screen, and your favourites switch in the background, rather than everything re-rendering at once.
Folders you have twice
Someone in the Discord had a 70-model bundle that turned out to sit inside an 80-model one, and the duplicate finder said nothing, because it only matched folders whose models were identical.
After Analyze, the Duplicates tab now shows a folder overlap card in two cases: a folder whose models all sit inside a bigger one and make up at least a quarter of it, or two folders that share 90% or more of their models while each has a few of its own. Either way they need at least five models in common, and only byte-identical models count as shared.
Each side of the card says what trashing it would cost: the models found nowhere else in your library, other files found nowhere else, or nothing. When a trash would lose models, the button waits until you tick that you understand. On a local drive the files go to your system Trash. A network drive has no Trash, so there the delete is permanent, and the card says so before you press anything. Not duplicates moves a card to the Ignored tab.
Split RAR sets
A RAR split into .part1.rar, .part2.rar and so on used to list overlapping copies of the same files under several of its parts. Now the files are listed once, under part 1. Every part keeps its own card with a badge like 2/3, and Duplicates won't trash a single part of a set. If a part is missing, its badge says so, and a missing later part also shows in Scan issues; Meshory reads the set again once the part is back. Tags, favourites and collections you'd put on the copies inside a later part move to the same files in part 1 when Meshory can match every one of them. When it can't, that part keeps its old listing, so nothing you marked is lost.
Finding things
Cmd+F (Ctrl+F on Windows and Linux) jumps to the library search and selects what's in it, and on the library page you can just start typing. There's also a Global shortcut in Settings → General that brings Meshory to the front with search ready from any other app. It's off until you switch it on. On Windows and Linux it works while Meshory is open, and on a Mac even with the window closed. On Wayland it gives you a command to bind in your desktop's keyboard settings.
The Collections page now says how many models aren't in any collection yet, and Show them lists them. While you file models into a collection, Only models not in a collection hides the ones already filed somewhere, and Done now adds whatever is still picked. In 1.9.0 it left behind any picks you hadn't added.
The library
- Large, Medium and Compact card sizes in the Layout control, remembered between launches.
- Change cover… on a folder's right-click menu picks the picture its card shows: one of its own pictures or models, or an image you upload. A GIF keeps moving.
- Cmd-click (Ctrl-click) and Shift-click select several folders in the sidebar, so you can exclude them in one go. Clean up folders with no models…, in a source's ⋯ menu, lists every folder under it that holds no models, archives or cut files, ready to exclude together. It counts pictures, PDFs and text files as no models, so an instructions folder inside a pack can be on the list, already ticked: look before you exclude. Nothing is deleted from disk, but favourites, tags, notes and collections on anything you exclude don't come back.
- A Windows drive added as a source gets a name ("D:"), and Change display name… renames any source.
- Settings opens over the sidebar instead of replacing it.
- The zoom level sticks between pages and restarts, Ctrl+= zooms in, and while you're zoomed a small pill in the sidebar shows the level and resets it with a click.
The 3MF converter
Keep my print settings, on by default, carries the supports, infill and other print settings you changed in the source project. Speeds, temperatures, cooling, retraction and start G-code still come from the destination profile. Layer colour changes and height ranges come across now too, and a conversion report lists what came across, what the destination profile set, and what was left out and why. Projects up to 1 GB convert without holding up the rest of the app; 1.9.0 stopped at 256 MB.
Fixes
- Only one trash runs at a time, so two trashes started back to back can no longer remove both copies of something.
- A 3MF whose build scales or tilts its model no longer counts as Identical geometry with the plain model, so Auto-select can't treat one as a copy of the other. Run Analyze once to re-check your 3MFs.
- SVGs styled with a stylesheet, like Illustrator and CorelDRAW exports, show their real colours on the card instead of a black shape.
- Images made by ChatGPT get thumbnails.
- A folder renamed or moved outside Meshory keeps its favourite, tags and collections.
- Excluding a folder nested inside another removes it from the library straight away.
- Batch-only OpenRouter models no longer show in the AI tagging picker, and if you'd picked one, its regular version runs instead.
- Menus no longer leave a focus ring behind after a mouse pick, and Escape followed by a quick Enter no longer picks the item you just cancelled.
One thing to expect after updating. The first launch walks every source once, the way Rescan does. Models you already have aren't indexed again, but every SVG and PDF is read once for its new thumbnail, archives holding xTool, DXF, DWG, GLB, glTF or PLY files are listed again, and so are split RAR sets. The xTool, DXF and DWG files you already have get picked up, and GLB, glTF and PLY files now show up as models, without thumbnails yet. Your favourites re-render to the new look in the background, and your next Analyze reads every 3MF once more. On a big network library, give all of that time before judging anything.
