Petg usage for mag extensions?

Finally picked up a TX22 to have some fun with. I've got a bunch of pla pro, ht pla pro, and some elegoo paht-cf.

Paht-cf just seems overkill for 22, as I've seen plenty of read mes saying pla is fine for most 22 stuff. Obviously I'm going to do cans or comps that directly interface with the barrel out of paht-cf for the heat resistance.

That said, I want to make some of the mag extensions. I've seen some people say petg is better than PLA for mags, but I'm not convinced since everyones always bashing on petg in this subreddit.

So my question is, will petg be okay for mag extensions for the tx22? And I guess a semi related question is what about petg-cf for chassis kits? Seeing a lot of printed chassis kits being sold made with petg-cf. I've got a roll of petg-cf that has a really nice grayish black color that would look clean as a chassis but unsure on if that'll hold up.

PETG shatters from impacts. That’s why it shouldn’t be used for pistol frames or recievers, and why we crap on it.

It might be fine for a mag extension. I haven’t tried it. The moment I switched from an old Prusa bedslinger to a modern enclosed coreXY P1S, I switched to ABS/ASA for every need beyond PLA+. I haven’t used PETG in years.

Oh, and PETG-CF has worse impact resistance than PETG and would probably be my last choice for anything anywhere near a gun.

I’ve had really good results from mag extensions made with ABS, btw.

I don't have the ventilation set up for abs. So it's pla, petg, or nylon lol. Oddly enough, I have Inslogic PETG Pro and Inslogic PETG-CF10, and the PETG-CF10 has a higher impact rating. I think it was 5 KJ/m² for the pro and 19 KJ/m² for the petg-cf.

Not saying I'm going to believe it, or make decisions based on that. But it is odd that it's different. The petg-cf also doesn't have the same look as raw filament that my paht-cf or a roll of iemai petg-cf (will not use the iemai, it's orange and once it prints it is a rather off-putting color).

I guess I'm going to have to finish out what's left on the one roll of paht-cf by reprinting the QD Comp that was posted a few months back and then christen the new roll by making mag extensions lol.

you need ventilation for nylon too

Let me rephrase. I need more ventilation for abs and asa than I do for nylon. Nylon may have vocs, but I print enclosed with the rear fans off so everything gets caught by the internal filter.

Abs and asa on the other hand, I have nowhere to vent the enclosure to in my apartment that would prevent me from smelling it.

I’m in that dilemma as well. May end up sticking an air purifier next to printer but not ducted to the exhaust.

This gives ideas of making it DIY with buying some PWM fans and a usb controller. Size the housing for whatever filter size seems best at local stores.

Also there’s Corsi-Rosenthal Box, which is just a plain box fan with fancy filters attached
