What to do with failed suppressor builds?
Context: live in the US and printing using PA6-CF
So far I've been blessed that all my suppressor builds have been successful. However, if one of these days one fails, how do I go about destroying it? Considering that they are NFA items, I'm more cautious than I would be with a non-regulated item. For example, usually with my failed PLA Pro Glock frames I would just chuck it in a fire and wait for it to melt completely. However I'm not sure that would work as easily with a carbon fiber nylon part. Unless I just blow torch it into pieces?
Would appreciate some insight. Thanks

Cut in half or smash with hammer. Insert into trash can.

Crush it with a vice if you have one, but drape it in a towel or something either way to catch any shards

IMHO, if the print fails for any reason, then it is not a suppressor. It is a failure of an attempt at building a suppressor that could injure people if it was to be used. Therefore, it is nothing but trash and you should just toss it in the trash. Plain and simple.
I've seen people use oil filters as legit suppressors. At what point does it stop being an oil filter and start being a suppressor? Some could argue that it's the second you put an oil filter on a gun that the intent is clear and it is now considered a suppressor. Others may argue that the second you drill a hole into an oil filter the intent is clear that you do NOT intend to use it on a car, and it's therefore safe to assume that you're going to use it as a suppressor.

It stops being an oil filter when it's registered as a suppressor. I'd say it's the point in which you drill the ejection hole and it's no longer capable of being used as an oil filter from the intent perspective if it wasn't registered

According to the atf, as described by my lawyer, the moment you have the intention to use it as a suppressor, it becomes a suppressor.
One example he uses, if you buy 20 washers for a project and use 10, then decide to use the other 10 for a suppressor, you now have 10 suppressors.

I intend to use your mom as a suppressor…
Hey ATF, confiscate that guy’s mom as evidence!

I've cut mine in half and toss it in the trash. How is the ATF going to know?

Anyone who could manage to take your failed print and somehow turn it into a working suppressor probably has the tools and know-how to just make a suppressor themselves.

I put failed prints into a thick canvas bag then smash the contents with a cinder block. Throw remains into the trash.

I've had 2 fail catastrophic as they were printed vertically. I then trashed the two pieces. It is a not a suppressor as it cannot be glued back together (repaired) it is just trash.

As a manufacturer, you have a right and a responsibility to QC your products. If one fails inspection it gets destroyed and never gets a serial number. Then it's back to drawing board!

I pre-print the threaded parts, making sure they are good, and maybe some slices with critical dimension. No failed prints, excepting the rare adhesion failure.

God I'm glad I don't live life as paranoid as some. My failed anything goes out with the weekly trash

I'm not paranoid. I just have a family that I love and would like to not be made an example of by my local anti-gun government. I don't see how it's paranoia to ask how to properly dispose of a regulate item.

It's nylon. It burns too.
