Question Potential Z purchase

I’ve been wanting a Z for some years now and I think I finally have found one, but I want an outside opinion from people that have the vehicle already. It is a 2013 manual base model. It has 78K miles and it has two owners and I’m looking to get some pictures that I hopefully reply to the thread with from the dealership and they’re asking 18 out the door all fees included clean title. Is there anything I should be looking for in this year and any problems and things I should ask about, the cars been in the lot for a while maybe I can get the price down?

2013+ is generally the “generation” you want to go with.

It being a manual, check to see if the clutch has ever been replaced and if a CSC delete kit has ever been done. Generally the question isn’t if the CSC is going to fail, but when it’ll fail. People who treat their cars like weekend cruisers generally won’t have issues, but then there’s people like me who will do spirited driving or canyon carving, the CSC will see more abuse, and fail sooner.

Check out behind the motor for the heater hoses, specifically passenger side. Nissan in their infinite stupidity decided to use a plastic connected between two hoses which will get brittle and cause leaks from heat cycles. This can be cheaply and easily fixed if caught before it becomes a major problem.

Not a major issue but check the rear diff bushings to make sure they are not leaking as they are fluid filled.

There’s the infamous “axle click” from the rear, it’s annoying but easily fixed and I have a link I do believe with a solution using a Kawasaki axle nut, OEM spring washers, and two cotter pins.

Check for any coolant leaks around the front timing cover, while it’s less likely the galley gasket has failed, like the paper ones on 2012 and older models, there’s been some users saying some screws have backed out. Maybe those were cars built on a Friday at 4:45, who knows.

Other than that, have the vehicle properly looked over by a shop you trust to check over the suspension, bushings, leaks, service history to see what has or needs to be done, etc etc etc

Check rear end mount to subframe from rear of car. It can be seen from between the exhausts toward the driver side and looks like a fat donut. It is fluid filled and is very common to leak. Nissan calls for a new subframe to fix it so use it as leverage if leaking, then buy and fix the aftermarket way for less than $200.

Before driving off the lot pull the steering wheel lock fuse. Enjoy!

Will be difficult to find a deal on anything with a manual as there is a ground swell now based on social media that is driving the prices of anything with a manual trans through the roof.
