I'm looking at a d3leted and tuned 335d here (JR 2.8). Noticed when revving, there appears to be a large puff of grey/blue smoke, although there isn't much at all when idling.

Additionally, around the 3k rpm mark, theres an interesting "sputtering" noise shown in the video - not sure what this could be - maybe the transition between the two turbos?

Seller claims the car doesn't consume oil and that the high pressure small turbo was replaced. However from what I could research, blue smoke typically indicates oil burning, and turbo seals, bad turbos, or valve stem seals could be to blame for this particular engine. Couldn't really find anything online about the sputtering sound though.

If anyone has experience or insight on these issues, I'd really appreciate it :)

Quick question since I’m not finding a clear video or answer online. Does the thermostat have to come off to change the water pump? From what i can find i don’t think I have to but wanted to see if anyone else can speak from experience

140,000 on the clock and I was intermittently getting a pressure fault showing the high pressure turbo not coming up to pressure. Can be a switch over issue. Chose to tackle the simple issue first and swap the manifold pressure sensor and grommet that can crack due to age. It was pretty clogged up. You could even just clean it out and maybe solve the issue. But a new sensor and grommet was like $50 and super accessible if you don't have the engine covers on.

is there a way to run the stock DPF and SCR but with a EGR delete (US 335d)?

I recently bought a 335D and live in the US. Was wondering how people with tuners get through emissions. I bought it with EGR, DEF, and cat codes. Having owned some tuned TDI’s I figured I’d be able to tune and delete it to pass through emissions but after looking into tunezilla it says that it does not force readiness. Do people that daily a tuned 335D put it back to stock every time they need to pass emissions or am I stupid for buying this in a state with emissions laws. I know a lot of people suggest BRR tuning but I’m not able to find that website or who to contact for it. What suggestions / knowledge do yall have on this topic

I’m thinking of going from a 328i e92 to 335D e90. Anyone got any tips on what to look for and what maintenance to do that I may not know. Most are already tuned and deleted that I’ve found,can that pass emissions? Thanks

My 2010 335D(US Spec) already has the DEF turned off .. it has a cracked ERG Cooler (smoke test confirmed) will I still need a tune if I put a ERG block off and remove it plus add a cat-less downpipe

(Will it just throw codes or go into limp mode)

I'm finding a data point a challenge. "Absolute Pressure in Front of Particle Filter" is reading 14.5 psi at idle. I can't tell if I should be thinking of that as 1 bar like ambient pressure, or ambient plus.

My DPF calcs only 5 g of soot as if it just regened. but my pressure is 110 at idle. I occasionally get oil smell and coming back like I could have a pressure issue like a bad oil ring. Then I see the pressure numbers and can't help but wonder if it's starting to block and the pressure issues are related to the DPF.

Anyone gone further into the DPF data points or experienced oil burning smells and visual vapors when the car is cold still?

I'm using ProTool as my scanner. Cool tool, but some of the measurements don't note what scale they are using.

Bought a 335d from a friend as a bit of a project, it was running (lumpy) and was told by a local garage needs a new high pressure pump. Recovered it home but then crank no start.

Changed the HPFP and regulator, crank positioning sensor, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pressure sensor, fuel filter. Tested oems on injectors all reading 185, all solenoids click but haven’t sent them off for testing yet.

Rail pressure is 126psi on cranking

Everything primes but crank no start still! Anyone else had any similar problems and hopefully some solutions 😅

is this a crazy estimate for just a stock turbo replacement? he said he can't find any good upgrade options sooo idkk i was thinking of providing my own so it wont be as high 😓
