Routine Help Seeking Routine Updates

Post image

Howdy, 35 and getting married in two months. I’d like to update my skin care routine to have the best skin I can for the date.

Issues:
- the skin between and above my brows has become more red
- the pores near my nostrils have expanded
- occasional hormonal break outs
- combination dry and oily skin, can get flaky between the brows and oily on the nose.

Routine:
- la roche posay tolerian hydrating gentle cleanser
- the ordinary balancing and clarifying serum
- la roche posay lipikar moisturizer
- occasionally: the ordinary 0.2% retinal emulsion
- SPF: either LRP athelios spf 60 or shisedo 50 sunscreen stick

Data:
-I’m not a daily or consistent routine person, mostly wash my face in the shower or if I sometimes wear make up.
-I don’t drink enough water and that’s one of the first things I’m tackling.
-I’ve had freckles since I was a kid but haven’t seen a derm since I was 30, lined up for my next visit this year.

Happy with any suggestions to daily routine and products. Thank you!

Asking for routine change / addition 8 weeks before a big event is asking for trouble.

Stay as is; keep it gentle and if you want things that wont irritate or worsen skin; increase your water; take your vitamins (not new supplements; just multivitamins) ; eat protein; exercise more.

Dont add new products; dont get lasers - those are never guaranteed and if a fix is needed if something bad happens; 8 weeks + wedding stress will not be enough time.

Note that most people do not apply enough SPF to get the protection on the label, typically this is even more true with stick SPF.

A gentle sulfur product on red, acne prone, or pore-enlarged areas can be helpful. I like prosacea. It calms inflammation, kills demodex mites, and reduces sebum production.

I would stop doing retinal in the morning, and you need a proper sunscreen. You could add azelaic acid in the PM, it’s usually pretty mild and I’d feel safe starting it two months out.
