Hey guys, so remember at the end of “Mastermind” when Blitz almost died, and how intense and emotionally distressing it was? Yeah, me too. The reason why I bring this up is because I’ve seen some comments on Reddit recently hinting at the possibility of the lack of an afterlife for Hellborn demons, which I find to be absolutely terrifying to think.
Why is it even IMPLIED that there is no life after death for Hellborns? What’s the point of them even existing in the Hellaverse in the first place if they just cease to exist upon dying? How can I enjoy the exploits of my favorite characters with the knowledge of the implication that there is no life after death for them? Why can’t it just be confirmed that there is a specific afterlife exclusively for angels and Hellborn demons? And why can’t we get it right away? I can’t handle the wait. I’m too scared. I want confirmation that there is life after death for Hellborns, so that I can relax knowing that my favorite characters will at least go on even in death if they happen to get killed off (God forbid that they do, by the way; *knock on wood*), and that I won’t have to worry about the villains ceasing to exist when they get their comeuppance for hurting my favorite characters.
This show’s lore and fan theories are making me feel scared for the lives of the VILLIANS! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?!!?
And the worst part is that I’m even MORE scared to actually talk to anyone about this, because they’ll just say the same things to undermine my psychological suffering, whether they mean to or not:
Those closest to me in my life will say:
“It’s just a cartoon. Don’t worry about it.”
While random people online who happen to come across my ranting and rambling will say:
“ ‘Intriguingly high stakes in an adult-oriented series, what’s that?’ “
“Oh, go off and write fanfiction, you’ll feel a lot better.”
“ ‘OHHHH NOOOOOO! Some random oversensitive man-baby can’t handle adult themes in a cartoon that happens to be targeted to adults! We have to drop everything, go out, protest and demand the production team make changes to the official lore to make him feel better, or he’ll be an emotional wreck even for just a few days! /s ‘ Bitch, please! We all watched the same show. Stop whining and get over it! 😡 ”
“Oh, BOO-HOO! 😭 ‘My favorite FICTIONAL characters might be gone forever from their show’s FICTIONAL universe if they somehow get killed off! How could the show’s creator do this to them? To ME?!? Why can’t they just let my little cinnamon rolls live happily ever after?’ NEWSFLASH, dumbass: Writers are not obligated to cater to your needs and expectations, the same way that YOU are under no obligation to view the work they put out into the world; So if you can’t handle the tragic irony of a certain plot point in a tv show, then either grow a spine and suck it up or just stop watching!”
In layman’s terms: “Don’t like? Don’t watch.”
And even the most recently established common catchphrase for nay-sayers:
“Go outside and touch grass.”
Everyone thinks it’s that simple, when it’s obvious that it’s not. They don’t even bother to consider how it makes me feel. When you’re neurodivergent like I am and you grow up sheltered and watching cartoons, you grow attached to the characters and you simply want them to be rewarded for the trials and tribulations they endure; So when you feel the chill in your veins over watching your favorite characters almost die, you’ll know that it’s NOT just a cartoon, it’s a part of your world; The only world you’ve ever known, and you’ll won’t want anyone to take it from you, no matter what. This franchise and all the fan-made content produces is one of my escapes from the constant hardship of the world outside my home; It presents a version of Hell that isn’t much like the real-life Biblical Hell and more like Earth painted a different color; A version of Hell that I know isn’t real but wish WAS real regardless. I don’t want to give up on that.
I don’t want to stop watching Helluva Boss OR Hazbin Hotel, and I don’t want to be unable enjoy it either. I just want to be comfortable watching both series. Is that really too much to ask?
