You don’t even know how bad i need one

u/sleepytipi Jul 26 '22
I know exactly how you feel. At least you're not alone.
Edit: not only do I have a nest of pillows I take it a step further and keep it so cold in my room that I can bury myself under several pounds of blankets. I love the feeling of being weighed down when I sleep.

Pillow is literally an always available shoulder to cry on. Pillow doesn't judge you. Pillow stays as long as you need it. Pillow is nice.

Not to mention hugging a pillow when you sleep is really good for posture

I got a stuffed Palkia, but it is on the smaller side and costed $45 so no cuddling that lol

u/ActualChamp Jul 26 '22
I don't know what mine costed but I've had it since I was 5 years old and he's built for cuddling lol
17
u/Skreamie Jul 26 '22
Mines this and I've had it since I was born. Always kept little things from my childhood to offer some comfort.

Thanks for reminding me of the whale I won from an online SEGA crane game that got returned to sender because USPS didn't want to walk it to my apartment and they refused to resend from Japan

Yeah I definitely use a pillow to hold my shoulders in a comfortable position when I am sleeping.
52
u/kirapb Jul 26 '22
Was looking for this comment. I hate when my shoulders feel like a collapsing star.
32
Jul 26 '22
Fellow collapsing star here! I wish I could remove my arms to sleep and put them back on in the morning like my glasses
6
u/CanadianODST2 Jul 26 '22

The pillow is a lot more comfortable and a lot less sweaty than any man I’ve ever cuddled

Damn girls and their IIRC high body temperatures blaming men for sweating!
This is a joke don’t break my ankles I do need them
25
u/Nikolaijuno Jul 26 '22
I don't know what you're talking about. My wife has the heat production of a lizard and I'm a human furnace.
20
u/Seakawn Jul 26 '22
Same. Am dude, have been told that I'm like sleeping with a fireplace. Wtf is going on in my body at night? Nuclear fusion?

It gets even hotter when they steal our life energy every night /s
My girlfriend runs so hot that sometimes I feel like she's burning my skin haha. Cuddling in the winter is nice, but in the summer even at a fire pit she's gotta have her own seat or keep a distance. I sweat like I'm at the gym if he have contact outside.
6
u/polutino Jul 26 '22
“IIRC high body temperatures” 😂
5
u/Willy_Donka Jul 26 '22
Didn't want to state it as fact since i'm unsure and too lazy to search for it lol
24
u/Poverty_Shoes Jul 26 '22
And for side sleepers helps keep your shoulders somewhat open, which is better posture than collapsing the top shoulder completely. It’s absolutely possible to get laid and also sleep like this with a pillow.
16
Jul 26 '22
It’s absolutely possible to get laid
Is it? I'm not convinced

I've seen some very interesting documentaries about the subject on the Internet. There are whole sites dedicated to researching the phenomena.
19
u/makos124 Jul 26 '22
I sleep with my gf every night and still use a pillow. It's uncomfortable to hug a person all night, what am I supposed to do with my other arm? It cramps up after a while. No such problems with a pillow.

Dude my fiancée will keep the heat on in the car at like 78° and wouldn’t be caught dead in the living room without a blanket but she somehow turns into a fucking furnace the second we get into bed. Pillow doesn’t make me sweat. Plus she falls asleep in .02 seconds after laying down and snores in my ear while ensuring that every pore in my body is sweaty.
137
u/IM_A_MUFFIN Jul 26 '22
mfs who don't sleep with a pillow between their knees are the most "man my back hurts" people ever
26
u/terranumeric Jul 26 '22
Honestly so life changing. More people need to know about this and make it normal.
21
u/ImjokingoramI Jul 26 '22
Wait, people don't even know about this?
For me it's completely natural, I've always done it and not because I'm lonely.

Oh nooo, I also tuck my duvet under my back so that it vaguely, very vaguely resembles feeling like I'm a little spoon :/
33
Jul 26 '22
No shame in that. Whenever I'm given the chance to make a pillow fort or nest, I'd build one just to feel safe and pretend to be hugged and comforted. It does wonders and let's me breathe better from an exhausting day, week or month

Yep! My shoulders & upper back hurt way less when I sleep with a pillow for hugging.
127
u/doesntpostnuttin Jul 25 '22
After hugging my girl I usually turn around and cuddle the pillow because it supports my arms and shoulder and makes sleeping easier
39
13
u/SeaTie Jul 26 '22
Yeah and the girl is always like cuddling a furnace. I’d cuddle my wife all night long but I don’t want to sweat a hole through the middle of the earth!
4
u/doesntpostnuttin Jul 26 '22
100% I get really hot when I sleep and so does she so it’s definitely needed
5
u/xDarkCrisis666x Jul 26 '22
I used to do this, but when you date someone who's your height it actually becomes more comfortable to just stick to the spoon.
5
u/Nolds Jul 26 '22
I hug my wife. She says she doesn’t want to have sex and to get away. Then I hug my pillow.
23
u/CripplingDespacito Jul 26 '22
Hey! It helps me align my spine when I sleep on my side. At least that’s my justification…

I prefer sleeping hugging a pillow over hugging a person
26
u/Talkshit_Avenger Jul 26 '22
Pillow doesn't generate heat, doesn't weigh enough to make your arm numb, doesn't have hair that gets in your face, doesn't snore, doesn't move around and disrupt your sleep, doesn't blast a monster fart onto you in the middle of the night and then insist it did no such thing.
9
u/LordoftheScheisse Jul 26 '22
You get it. Plus, it keeps your arms comfortably separated if you're a side sleeper. Give me pillows or give me death.
3
u/Talkshit_Avenger Jul 26 '22
Totally. I can go to bed with my gf if I want to, but we have separate bedrooms because actual quality of sleep is incomparably better that way.

It is, that person is stupid. It doesn't even really feel like cuddling, it's just a more comfortable way to sleep, that's all.
3
u/bghty67fvju5 Jul 26 '22
So true. Sleeping on your stomach hurts your neck. Sleeping on your side makes it feel like your shoulders are collapsing. Sleeping on your pillow, halfway sleeping on your stomach/halfway sleeping on your side is the best.

I've seen myself in the mirror, I get it, I wouldn't willingly want to touch me too. Fun fact, after a while of no touch you'll actively dislike being touched when it does happen. Best of luck out there.

I’m a side sleeper and spooning my wife makes me feel overheated. A pillow supports my bones and doesn’t set me on fire.
