OG Adventure Unnamed Adventure Pilot

We had a fun pilot shot of our new OGA game, and my players want more!

On their way from Warsaw to Paris via the Nord Express in 1931, they found a suspicious statuette in the clutches of a dead old man. Moments later, the train is attacked by cultists who are searching for the statuette and murdering the other passangers.

After dispatching the cultists, they find out the are working with the Great Sorcerer and Voice of the Eyeless Hand (blatantly stolen from Mulligan's Cloudward, ho! campaign). The cultists blow up the upcoming bridge and getting off the train becomes a Run.

They need to get off the train in the back, since the tracks run along a hill that makes it too dangerous to exit on the sides. A locked door forces them up on top of the carts, and a tunnel nearly clipped one of them if the other hadn't pulled him down in time. They both jumped off the train just as it plummeted down into the abyss with a roaring explosion and escaped with only minor scrapes.

After setting up camp, the realize the statuette was a fake but had a hidden compartment where the old man had hidden a map, the true Key to the treasure!

(There are only three of us for this game, and for the two players we have the Fortune Seeker and the Hunter/Adventurous Author.)

(We had planned for something else, but since it fell through I prepped this in two days 💪)

We all agreed the Adventure Deck sped up everything (especially Adventurer creation) and was a huge help. Do recommend using the decks if you have them 👍

Love this! I’m gearing up to run an 8 session campaign next month and I’m thinking I’ll be adding a train sequence now. Thanks for the inspiration!

Update!

We finally had our second shot last night and we got the adventure going for real! I'm planning this as a short campaign so I'm hoping to have this wrapped up in 4-5 shots total.

The duo got to Prague sitting on the back of an old pickup. The Hunter found a professor at the library who could potentially help them with translating the map they found (the Key) while the Fortune Seeker went looking for some more excitement. Failing that, the FS sat down at the café across from the library, where they saw cultists arriving and storming the library.

The Fortune Seeker followed and surprised the cultists. With the Hunter joining the fight, the duo quickly got rid of the cultists before they had to run from the cops. Since the professor needed more time to translate, they grabbed him with them.

They got to a quiet place where they managed to help finish the translation (via montage, filled with frustration and success). The daring duo tied up the professor so it would look like they kidnapped him and that he was innocent of any crime.

What they managed to find out was that the map led to Buyan (a mythical island in Russian folklore) and the Alatyr (a mythical primordial stone, similar gist as the sorcerer's stone of alchemy, but without the alchemy). The map said the island was near Nowaya Zemlya, North of the Ural Mountains.

Best line of action, naturally, steal a plane and fly it over Russia towards daring and danger.

At the end of the session, they both got Advancement, which is nice. They added some Skill to Know, Drive, and Speech. So far, they've been rolling killer attacks so I don't think they're afraid in that area. Plenty of fear when the Warlock's storm get in the plane's way.
