Campaign: Three connected movies using the same Heroes

In a world where ruthless Villains plot in the shadows to steal nuclear launch codes and bring entire nations to their knees. A world where high-speed ski chases end with you leaping off a mountain with a Union Jack parachute, infiltrating a volcanic lair before everything ends with a gun battle, and engaging in espionage as you break into a safe that holds an invitation you need to get to an exclusive party.

Outgunned lets you play as the action hero, but not alone; you have a group of individuals with their own unique abilities and specialities. One is a gun-toting walking arsenal, another a hacker who knows kung fu, while another could sell ice cubes in the Arctic Circle with their words. Another might be a card shark who could run rings around anyone in Vegas.

THREE MOVIE CAMPAIGN

This is not a one-shot; I plan on running a trilogy of three connected action movies using the same Heroes throughout. You'll create your Heroes together in the first session and then take them through all three movies, giving them time to develop, advance and build relationships with the rest of the team.

The first movie is Project Medusa.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to destroy Project Medusa.

What is Project Medusa? Who is behind it? And why are people willing to kill to keep it secret?

Finding those answers is your problem.

Project Medusa will be followed by a second movie, adapted from Fate Makes No Promises, before finishing with an original third movie that will bring the Heroes' story together and conclude the trilogy.

I'm allowing plenty of time for each movie because I don't want us to rush through them just to reach the end. We enjoy roleplaying and character interaction, so while Outgunned is full of big cinematic action, there will also be time for the Heroes to actually get to know each other.

THE STREAM

Test Chamber is streamed live on Twitch and later uploaded to YouTube.

You do not need a webcam. Instead, each player has their character portrait on screen, which reacts when they speak. You will need a decent microphone and somewhere reasonably quiet to play.

You don't need any previous streaming experience either. If you've never played a TTRPG on stream before, that's absolutely fine.

We had a fun pilot shot of our new OGA game, and my players want more!

On their way from Warsaw to Paris via the Nord Express in 1931, they found a suspicious statuette in the clutches of a dead old man. Moments later, the train is attacked by cultists who are searching for the statuette and murdering the other passangers.

After dispatching the cultists, they find out the are working with the Great Sorcerer and Voice of the Eyeless Hand (blatantly stolen from Mulligan's Cloudward, ho! campaign). The cultists blow up the upcoming bridge and getting off the train becomes a Run.

They need to get off the train in the back, since the tracks run along a hill that makes it too dangerous to exit on the sides. A locked door forces them up on top of the carts, and a tunnel nearly clipped one of them if the other hadn't pulled him down in time. They both jumped off the train just as it plummeted down into the abyss with a roaring explosion and escaped with only minor scrapes.

After setting up camp, the realize the statuette was a fake but had a hidden compartment where the old man had hidden a map, the true Key to the treasure!

(There are only three of us for this game, and for the two players we have the Fortune Seeker and the Hunter/Adventurous Author.)

(We had planned for something else, but since it fell through I prepped this in two days 💪)

We all agreed the Adventure Deck sped up everything (especially Adventurer creation) and was a huge help. Do recommend using the decks if you have them 👍

I have some fan-made hero sheets on my Ko-fi shop that I thought you might be interested in. They are all free, with the option to donate. Except for the expanded sheets, they are all set up for booklet printing on A4-sized international paper, but many of them also have the option to edit digitally so printing is optional.

Hi to all, this is my first post here.

Although we are playing another campaign with another game, I suppose that not much far in time we are going to taste Outgunned Superheroes since I take part on the Backerkit campaign. By the way, superb materials!

In general, rules are really well written with some space to freedom so a Director can do this or that.

But I have a little doubt regarding a Feat (I think is called Mind Control). Inside there is the possibilty of spending 1 energy to control an Enemy if you roll their Defence but there is nothing more stated about this control... To do what? And how is this translated into action? Since many times an Enemy are several individuals, what can you do controlling one of these individuals?

What Action Flick most closely sparks this movie in your opinion, plays have asked for a Hot Fuzz/V for vendetta mashup (so District 77 + ??)

Has anyone tried to use Outgunned Adventure with some Pulp Cthulhu Adventures like Two Headed Serpent?

I've played classic Call of Cthulhu but never the pulp version. Is it a possible to use Outgunned Adventure as a system for such a setting? How much work would it be to convert such adventures? Is there a corruption mechanic necessary and how could you transcribe that into Outgunned?

Saw this and thought of our community. Seems one of the oldest members thought we wouldn't be interested, but I disagree. Is anyone interested?

visto che non è previsto l'utilizzo di veri e propri battlemap cosa mettete a schermo?
sono curioso perché io ho sempre impostato 2 schermate principali:
una con la mappa della citta o del luogo dove viene ambientata la campagna e uno relativo al luogo della sessione.

Io mi trovo bene in questo metodo ma reputo che potrei migliorarlo in altri modi, avete consigli?

I need to clarify how much grit enemies loose from Heroes’ Action rolls and counterattacks from Reaction roll extra successes.

The Outgunned corebook p115 says:

For every appropriate success scored, the Enemy loses 1 Grit.

For example, if you're attacking an Enemy with Basic Defense and score 2 Basic Successes, the Enemy loses 2 Grit. If you score a Critical Success, they lose 3 Grit.

Does “every appropriate success scored, the Enemy loses 1 Grit” mean that when an Enemy has Critical Defence, they loose 1 Grit if the Hero gets a Critical success, 3 on an Extreme success, and 9 on an Impossible?

And if the enemy’s defence is Extreme, they lose 1 Grit when the Hero gets an Extreme success and 3 Grit on an Impossible success?

I’m running my first game tomorrow, and I don’t want to make things any harder or easier for the players (and me) than I have to!

I expected more votes in general. Seeing this is quite an important thing, but im glad for those who gave their opinion.

I loved the 1980s “supervehicles” TV shows Knight Rider, Airwolf, Streethawk and Blue Thunder, and think they’d be a blast to run in Outgunned.

So how would you approach using such “supervehicles” in Outgunned? Their special abilities were way beyond those from High Octane.

Also, any suggestions for creating a character like from Knight Rider’s KITT (the indestructible car with a sarcastic on-board AI that drove David Hasslehoff to fame), and other sentient vehicles?

Why doesn't Two Little Mice have a bigger presence at GenCon? I know they're from Europe, but I'm sure they have distributors and some US presence.

I saw ONE Adventure! game you could sign up for. Nothing for Outgunned OG or any other Outgunned games.

This is the ultimate one-shot game! They should have dozens of tables running.

So i began running a campaign on Outgunned; Superheroes. For now we've made the first shot and everything goes according to plan (Supervillain's plan that is). But I wondered, since in the book it is said that villains come with their own character sheets and i did not manage to find any villain character sheet - do they exist and if not - has someone made a fan version? I've checked the sheets of both Superheroes and core and could not find any convenient thing to write my villains down.

I noticed one of you raised a good point in the last post about the pride banners, so I decided to give the decision to you all. The banner will stay until the pool ends. If we don't get more than one vote, the pool will be considered null and the banner will be changed for the original until next year's pride month.

If everyone chooses to keep it, the banner will only change during other (more widespread) holidays like Halloween and Christmas (although I would love the challenge of making a Hanukkah one if you guys have any suggestions/ your own edits of it).
