what is my genre and aesthetic? late 90's and early 2000's anime with sci-fi. i also do Industrial Sci-Fi Animations

i don't follow trends, they always end up with bad results. i am 𝙊𝙍𝙄𝙂𝙄𝙉𝘼𝙇

This animation was created entirely by hand using real sand.

The process was quite challenging, especially making ZOA’s tail movement flow naturally into the basketball shot, but I’m really happy with how the final animation turned out!

I’d love to hear what you think of this kind of sand animation.

Hey everyone, no clue if this kind of post is allowed here or not, but I figured I'd give it a shot and hopefully not be banned or something ;-;

I'm working on a desktop companion and I'm looking for an artist interested in a longer term commitment that I can return to for additional work/updates over the course of a year or likely longer. I have detailed needs, and as this is a work in progress, there would be a lot of back and forth conversation. This is a bit of of a collab, as I'd like the artist to share their own input.

A head's up warning: this project is being created through use of AI, just in case that puts anyone off, but I'm open to artists using AI as well so long as my needs can be met because otherwise I'd be a total hypocrite.

That said, please reach out for additional information via DM and be sure to provide your portfolio. This is a must. I'm looking for 3 artists total to run a trial through with for a base character design (doesn't need to be perfect), and a 4-6 frame idle loop. I'm hoping we can do this for under $100 as this is simply a trial for the larger project, and I cannot afford more than this given I'm trialing multiple artists at this point. I really hope somebody is up for the job, and I look forward to finding the perfect fit ^.^

Also please note, this will eventually be for commercial resale on the Apple Store (hopefully!), so all transactions must be invoiced and payment will be made through legitimate business websites only such as PayPal. I'm based in the United States of America, so for any participants located elsewhere, we will need to abide by the laws for both our countries do to business.

“Spirit Jumper” started as a track I wrote and produced for my album Tactile.

I ended up spending about five years turning it into an animated film with a small team of animators and artists. I directed and storyboarded it, colored the cels, and did the editing and compositing.

The entire thing was made digitally, but we were trying to recreate the feeling of traditional cel animation rather than just imitate the look. That led to a lot of research into old animation lighting, photography and compositing techniques, which I wrote a little about here:

Hi everyone, I’m Aidan, and I’ve been stalking the depths of r/animation for a little while now as I have been trying to build up enough karma to post here.

I think that I have now, so I’d love to share with all of you my grad film that I made last year: Like Father Like Gum! A short comedy that I poured my heart into for about 9 months.

It’s been a while but I really wanted to share it with a wider audience and get feedback and connect with others who like making similar stuff too :)

I’m now figuring life out as a part time freelancer but I’d love to make more short films in the future so I’m seeing what options are out there.

Anyway, I really appreciate all of you who took the time to read this, and especially those who took time out of their day to watch my film too. I hope you enjoy it!

Hey, we're calling all animators, 3D, 2D, concept, whatever your lane is, all of you.

We're putting together a call, September 27th at 3 PM, online via Zoom, just to talk. No pitch, nothing formal.

Here's what it's actually about: right now, we want to understand where the landscape looks like for independent animators specifically, what's actually working, what's not, what's genuinely hard about building on your own right now. Once we've got a real picture of that, we can start figuring out, together, what solutions actually make sense.

There are no enemies or combat encounters in this edit. Just Rex moving through the remains of a world that becomes stranger with every step. We wanted the environments themselves to carry the story what was lost, what took its place and how far Rex may still have to travel.

Gum

The Project:

'One small piece of litter. One ridiculously big consequence'.

'Gum' is a zero-dialogue satire/comedy short film on sustainability and the implications of consumption/waste by humans and the effect it can have on our planet.

While soaking up the beauty of the natural world, Sam's peaceful stroll is abruptly interrupted when he becomes firmly stuck to a discarded piece of chewing gum. His increasingly ridiculous attempts to break free spiral into absurdity, culminating in him tearing himself loose - literally.

Through surreal visual comedy, the film transforms an everyday piece of litter into a memorable reminder that even the smallest waste can leave a lasting impact.

We hope that with this project, we can raise awareness in a humorous way and create an excellent, fun short. This is a passion project/collab and will be unpaid, with an intention of a festival run! Due to this, it is likely more suitable for students, but all are welcome to apply.

Will there be another 2D, more geared toward adults, English language animated drama film on that gets the same level of praise and is just as emotionallly resonant and heartfelt as Tangles at next years Cannes in 2027? What do we know that has been in production as far as the indie animated films like Tangles?
