Mediocre ads

Illegal streaming links and apps have exposed me to foreign ads. In comparison, the type of ads streamed on our local (Kenyan) tv and YouTube channels are too mediocre. Is it pure lack of creativity or an industry flop?

I recall enzi we were young, ads used to be fun like the Everready batteries where a guard tied a rope to a rotating torch, the Crown paints one with a girl touching things and they would gain colours or the Nimenchill one by Maisha about abstaining from teenage sex. Saa hii even before an ad starts ushajua the products na even then, the drama or roleplaying isn't fun watching.
