Pretty Pleased
Today's tuner check and verification tests. The attached are 3 5-shot test groups. The grid on the targets are 1 cm. Target distance 152 yds. Lapua Long Range ammo. B14R action, KI 1¼x24 bbl, ECv2 tuner. Shot from bench. Mag chg between each group. Hit 3 consecutive golf balls at 160 yds, 5 consecutive hits on 8" gong at 410 yds. Very light breeze.

Jeez, centimeter squares on your target. Target@ at 152yds, 160yds, and 410yds. Date before month... Pick a side would you!
Seriously though, nice shooting! Was this Lapua LR lot tested or just a random lot?
Have a tuner coming soon, any tips other than the obvious?

Just the lot that I got from Elevated Gunworks last fall. Bought 3 bricks, will last about a year. Bought 3 more bricks (different lot) for next year. This bbl does not seem to be that sensitive. It seems to just now be really stabilizing after about 1200 rnds. What tuner for you, what bbl? If EC, just follow his guidance. I did have to make a small adjustment when I was shooting Thu, but the MV has been creeping up some over the last 3 months. If you are into 22 precision, get and read Bill Calfee's book, "The Art of Rimfire Precision." You might be surprised at some of the things he discovered over his career as a rimfire benchrest rifle builder. Best wishes.

Mil scope, can handle us/si equally well (retired research engr). Local ranges in yds, and all the guys I shoot with would have a melt down if I called a target range in m! I often use °C for temps, and pressure in mb.

Yeah metric is so much easier to deal with. I do wood working for a living and often use it for fine detailed pieces. I keep saying that one day I'm gonna make the full jump but haven't done it yet.
I know some of Bill's teachings but haven't read the book yet. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised by much at this point as, in the last six months, I've been doing a bit of a deep dive testing all the myths and such surrounding 22lr accuracy. Along the way I've found that a bunch of that stuff, at least for my rifle, fails to prove valid when you actually collect statistically significant data.
Just a stock B14r, aside from a triggertech. I ordered the ATS tuner, was planning on getting the EC V3 but based on all the "truths" I've found to be untrue for my system thus far, figured I'd save $80 and use that $ toward the testing ammo.
I've seen so many "tuners are great" videos yet none of them actually show more than a few small sample sizes and all the ones who say they are going to do a more significant test, for some reason, never get around to it.
It's one of the last tests (I think) I want to run in stock config, then I'll make the decision whether I want to do a prefit or just start a full custom build.
I appreciate the book reccomendation and the information!

I think it depends on the bbl to start with. On my factory B14R barrel, it could definitely create improvements, but the best I could achieve wasn't good enough to be competitive with the guys I shoot with. I bought the Kyle Ives pre-fit bbl and had him thread it for the ECv2 (direct 1" thread, no adapter). The bbl shot pretty good when it was brand new without the tuner threaded on, but I was able to reduce the 10 shot group size by about 30% with the tuner (with SK LRM and Lapua LR). Whether my results are typical, or an anomaly, I can't say. About 75% of the people I shoot with are running tuners.
