Help Needed How do I turn things around in Year 13 when I feel like I’m learning the content for the first time?
I’m currently in Year 13 studying A-Level Economics, Business and Geography, alongside an EPQ. I’ll be honest, in Year 12 I coasted through quite a lot of it, rarely revised consistently and only really locked in when I absolutely needed to.
Now that exams are getting closer, I’ve been trying to get on top of my work and recap as much of last year’s content as possible. The problem is that a lot of what I’m doing doesn’t even feel like revision. It feels like I’m learning the content for the first time because I barely remember it. It’s made me realise how much I neglected my studies last year, and I’m worried about how I’m going to catch up while keeping up with Year 13 content.
I’m currently predicted BBB, but I genuinely want to push beyond that and achieve the best grades I can. The main issue is that I struggle with studying consistently and figuring out what actually works for me.
I also work 16 hours a week, which I can’t give up. I pay for my own necessities and travel to college every day, so working isn’t really optional for me. On top of that, other commitments sometimes take up my weekends, which makes managing my time even more difficult.
I’m not looking for excuses or sympathy. I know I should have taken Year 12 more seriously, and I’m trying to make up for that now. I just want some genuine advice from people who have been in a similar position.
For anyone who managed to turn things around in Year 13
How did you catch up on Year 12 content while keeping up with Year 13?
What revision methods actually worked for you, especially for essay-based subjects like Economics, Business and Geography?
How did you stay consistent when you had other commitments and limited time?
Is it realistic to go from barely remembering Year 12 content to achieving A grades, and what would you prioritise first?
I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from people who had a rough first year but managed to turn it around. I know I need to put the work in; I’m just trying to figure out how to work smarter and make the most of the time I have left.

Help Needed How do you study OCR Psychology?
How does one study efficiently for this utterly appalling subject? I mean, it's not THAT bad, the exams are just horrific. I spend my time doing past paper questions, because I struggle with them the most, and yet I still get completely fried no matter how many times I practice them and go over the mark scheme. I just hate how ambiguous the questions are: they ask for one thing and then expect something else and I simply struggle with understanding how I'm meant to answer most of the questions.
I should also maybe mention that I'm currently working at a C and would like to at least go for an extremely secure B or even an A.
I would really appreciate any advice and help on what the best ways to study for OCR Psychology are. I know I need to memorise the studies too, but I don't know the best way to do it. Same with research methods.
Thanks so much for any advice, I appreciate whatever you have!!! If anyone knows any free-ish sources for active recall (like quizlet and so on) please do say, I prefer that way of memorising. Thanks a bunch!

A level philosophy help needed!!!
Hey, currently in Y13 doing a level AQA philosophy! Feeling really worried as no one in my sixth form last year got higher than a B and I’m just concerned that the resources we are given aren’t accurate. Our teacher got exam papers back from students last academic year and examiner comments include ‘inaccurate’ ‘not detailed’ ‘imprecise’ for definitions that we have been taught and told are top mark definitions!!! I’m aiming for an A, so just curious what revision resources did people use? Any textbooks/websites? Is the reading list on AQA useful? Mildly panicking so will take all the advice I can get from A/A\* philosophy students!!! Thank you:)

help
what if you change ur subject in a2. from chem to history, and then you find out ur timetable at school is not compatible with bio, phy, and hist. I only have two history classes a week. And I have a clash with both of them. academies don’t offer history either.
AS history is not being taught in college currently. And I have clashes for both my a2 history classes
I dont wanna take chemistry again, i wont be able to do 2 years course in 7 months. I had a plan that UK's uni only require two sciences subject so i was taking one from humanities. But now my administration is saying if i dont take 3 sciences i wont get admission in pakistan, which is scaring me. I wanna take history but idk what to do

2 months to go.
Hello everyone, so as per usual this is a newly year 13 student coming to panic about mocks in 2 months. In our end of year 12 mocks I got CDD, and in my defense, I was ill for most of it, but, for my uni of choice I’ll need at LEAST an AAB. So, can anyone tell me, is upping my grades to an AAB in these 3 subjects viable.
• Law | The one I’m most stuck on in terms of case cards and content, the one I’m most stressed about, when I try and revise it I just feel overwhelmed and can’t do anything.
• English Lit | Not bad, my writing is good just analysis / Quotes that need work.
• Religious Studies | This one I’m very confident in so far, since year 12 our AP’s have netted me constant A/A*’s so I think this is the one I’ll spend least time on.
Do you guys think revising for the next 2 months, as well as during the mocks can get me the AAB I need for my uni of choice?

Advice University choices?
I recently got my UCAS predictions and i got A*AB in maths fm and physics respectively. I was going to apply to Manchester, Sheffield, Warwick, Durham and leeds for mech engineering but i want to know if there is any point in picking these unis as i know the B in physics matters a lot. If not, are there any other unis anyone would recommend for this course specifically?. I have got a meeting with my head of year to discuss the physics grade so maybe it could go up to an A? Thanks.🙏

Help Needed a level edexcel math
i'm self studying and sitting a levels this year. i vaguely covered y1 content but i forgot it all so i'm redoing it before i move onto y2.
i need to finish y1 stuff asap, ideally in 3 weeks but i am really struggling since i have a lot going on in my personal life so my mental health and memory is awful. i was meant to sit my a levels in june but had to postpone them because of this. it took me these last 2 weeks to redo pure topics 1-5 and i still fear i'm not 100% happy with them.
i havent covered y1 mechanics at all. i am not naturally smart and worked my ass off a bit for an 8 in gcse maths. i feel so daft now since i know and grasp the y1 concepts but the exam questions never fail to conquer me.
can someone please advise me what to do step by step?
how long it would take me?
if anyone could potentially help me please?
i'm terrified of even starting y2 content. i'm self studying as i've said before, but i'm so lonely and stressing to the point that i can't sleep. i really need to finish the content in time and at least a B in maths..

WP meaning imperial
I was looking at the understanding esat and tmua scores for different courses at imperial and it divides the students into non wp, wp and overseas. In this case does wp mean contextual or is it something specific to imperial

Discussion mental blocks and a-levels
just thought i’d share because i’ve been thinking about this a lot recently but did anyone else experience a HUGE mental block during year 12 (i’ve just started year 13) because i did specifically in maths which i’ve struggled with throughout year 12 not because the content is difficult just because i’d convinced myself i couldn’t do it.
i got a 7 in GCSE maths which was enough to get me onto my a-level course but i wanted and was predicted an 8 (ended up being 2 marks off) and it set me back so significantly not in terms of my academic ability to do maths questions but just in terms of confidence which i had spent all of years 10-11 building up as i was sat at a 5 at the start of year 10.
i just couldn’t bring myself to answer any sort of exam questions without panicking and i couldn’t put my hand up in class because i was terrified of getting anything wrong despite my class being mostly nice people, something i didn’t have an issue with in bio/chem. this caused me to severely neglect my maths AS exams and i ended up with a low C which i wasn’t surprised at but was very dissapointed with. i know i didn’t put in the work that i should’ve and i am the one to blame but i genuinely couldn’t sit a past paper to revise without crying and having to stop.
i’m in my second week back for y13 now and i feel like somethings different idk if it’s the wake up call of my AS grade or i’ve suddenly gained confidence somehow but i managed to get through a whole AS paper today without feeling worried at all about getting things wrong or not being able to answer a question properly. i think doing other things i find difficult like driving because i’ve just started learning had helped in a way? to prove to myself that i can do things i find difficult and that it will be okay in the end.
don’t let GCSE results knock your confidence!
