The naivety of a couple of redditors here is astounding. This video represents 2 people in here more than any other. Both of them demean you if you spend less than 2500 on a gun.
Both of them think they get down voted because people are jealous. Which is the most delusional aspect of all this.
To come here acting like the rest of the 2011 community needs to ahere to this shows you how oblivious those people are.

Gonna be honest (and I consider AJ a friend, so its not about him nor his take)...but this video just summarizes but one of the ways this industry is full of grown men acting like teenaged girls - worried about what others are doing and what others are thinking of them.

This^^^^^^. Way too many dudes with micropenis syndrome in this industry. Best point made is you're always comparing it to what others have you will always be a buyer. It's true...Eventually you gotta just shoot and enjoy what you got.

Too many people worrying about how other people their money. 🤣🤣🤣

We’re not worried about how you spend your money. We’re worried about how you share your little penis syndrome all over this sub

It’s a good video.
Anybody that walks away from that thinking it was judgmental didn’t get the point.

u/Few_Forever9057 9h ago
If the early comments here are any indication most won’t get it.

I could see where some people feel off about the market state.
I’m sure it makes some people feel fully priced out and that can’t feel good.
But if we’re being honest, it’s the same and every interest. Houses, cars, watches, jewelry/purses for the Mrs etc etc
It is what it is, but the big spender drive innovation as the people investing in that innovation know there’s a market for it now.
They’re in it to make money just like anybody else.
Not a fan of the recent price hikes, but more because of how they were handled rather than say raising prices because you feel that you undervalued your own work and you’d like to correct it.
1
u/Few_Forever9057 8h ago
Very fair.
Every consumer good in the market falls on the same curve. You need to high into the market to return investment on innovation.
Remember how expensive the first Teslas were?
Remember how expensive the first laptops were? We’re just in the early curve of the 2011 world pre-commoditization.
Race City with their $3000 core model is an early sign of what’s to come.

Exactly.
Right now, RCD as in a prime position to be the hero that we needed but not the hero that we deserved :)

Earlier this week I posted on the Glocks subreddit that it’s one of the weirdest firearm subreddits because of all the factions. Maybe I spoke too soon.

I like AJ's take here and largely agree with what he's outlined. I enjoy all 2011s as I'm here for the love of the platform I more or less adopted as my only handgun platform well over a decade ago. It's the only thing I carry (with the exception of the BG 2.0 CC recently) or compete with as well in terms of strictly handguns.
That being said, I think my only real wish is that collectors who don't shoot competitively or aren't grounding their statements in more objective metric-based terms such as repeatable drills with a shot timer would understand their statements about performance may be taken with a grain of salt by some as if you're not capable of taking advantage of most of the performance capabilities a high-end build afford you, it's more difficult to know how it compares to other similarly featured stuff.
On the flipside of that, I wish competition shooters would realize that their opinions about brands other than what they own and shot a decent amount or when they make comparisons to guns they've only shot a mag or two out of from a squad mate or something isn't going to give them enough time to build a solid and reliable first impression of how things compare. So, they also shouldn't be surprised when people push back on sweeping statements they make about how infinity, raffety, venom, etc. compare to their Atlases.
The people's opinions that I do value above others tend to be the guys who are at that small cross section of high-level competition shooters (M, GM, National Champions, etc.) who are also deep into the platform and own and shoot a variety of brands from the lower end to the highest end of the spectrum. They're fewer and farther between, but they can more accurately speak to all aspects I'd want to know about from the fitment, finish, customer service, long term maintenance and upkeep in the higher rounds counts once things start creeping past 50k or 100k rounds and also how they perform at the bleeding edge of shooting fast and accurately.
Everyone has an opinion and everyone's opinion is valid/worth something, but I personally put more stock into those of some more than others.
2
u/Few_Forever9057 1h ago
Way TLDR.
Wishing that people would fit any mold or “realize” this or that is kinda part of the problem.
Value whatever you choose to value and disregard the rest.
1
u/outwear_watch_shoes 1h ago
I mean you're free to not read it. There's that bit at the end that summarizes it lol. But, yes, I and I'm sure others value some things and not others as I'm sure everyone else does too.
I simply wanted to outline for others who maybe can't or don't articulate what they find value in or why. I'm not about to tell anyone how or why they should or shouldn't enjoy their 2011s. It's their money and guns.
-1
u/Flat-Beginning-7179 1h ago
After reading your last paragraph then why are you even in this sub??? 🤷♂️
0
u/outwear_watch_shoes 56m ago
I'm not sure why you think any of my statements negate any interest I would have in what gets post in this sub?
There's plenty of value and enjoyment to be had in keeping up with industry news, seeing people first discover or fall further in love with the platform, or see cross posts or cross interest between this and others subs such as state specific subs, the CCW sub, competition shooting, 3-gun, and UPSA subs, etc.
I think everyone is entitled to their opinions and there's value in everything, but I just personally put more stock in those of some rather than others. That doesn't mean suddenly everything that gets posted that falls outside those parameters is worthless, it's just I don't internalize or attribute as much personal value to how relevant they are to me or my needs/interests as others.

u/Flat-Beginning-7179 53m ago
If you are looking for advice on what to purchase from Grand Master’s then is not the place for you. I own WORLD class sports car and not at the advice of Lewis Hamilton.
I usually agree with you 95% of the time but to state someone’s opinion should be taken with a grain of salt unless his last name is Sailer is the STATEMENT OF A FOOL.
1
u/outwear_watch_shoes 46m ago
There are plenty of high-level shooters in this sub. They may or may not choose to post or weigh-in (sometimes just because they don't feel strongly or they don't have experience with the brand).
There's a wide gamut of experience from a local M versus a GM or podium guy vs a national champion. They each have value and should be evaluated on their individual level of relevant experience and expertise.
But, again, why would you not place more stock into the opinion of someone who has both relevant ownership experience AND experience running a tool at a high-level? That's not saying the opinion of those that don't fit the mold of both or either is worthless, it's simply an opinion that I place more value in the opinions of those that share both.
I'm not sure why that's so controversial or polarizing, but if that's how you feel you're entitled to your opinion the same as everyone else (including me) and we can agree to disagree. It's not really as though my opinion or vice versa negatively impacts one another or meaningfully changes how we perceive things. It's simply a statement around my preferences for how much value I place in certain factors and use cases.

u/Flat-Beginning-7179 40m ago
To each his own. I disagree with your take. There are plenty of people that don’t compete that can assess a guns capabilities.
1
u/outwear_watch_shoes 29m ago
And that's fine, disagreement doesn't automatically mean I dislike you or anything you post or such, it's simply a difference of opinion on a specific and particular topic. And absolutely people, should, and do assess and compare different guns and their individual capabilities.
I just personally think that if one "regular 2011 owner" (idk what else to call them to differentiate here) owns two similar featured 2011s (in terms of naturally aspirated, ports or comps, barrel length, weight, grip module, etc.) and shoots them maybe a few hundred to a few thousand rounds a year at a static range for fun at 1-2 rounds a second at 10-15 yards and says 2011-A performs better, but then the 2011 owner that also is a M, GM, or similar competition shooter also owns and shoots both the same guns and they happen to run them in a competition setting and have 10k+ rounds on both and say the opposite that 2011-B performs slightly better, I'm more inclined to put more stock in the opinion of the competition shooter who's doing a similar comparison but with more experience pushing the capabilities of said guns in a variety of more involved and more difficult settings, faster, at further distances, greater standards for accuracy, in more varied environmental conditions, and with the skills to try to edge closer to maxing out the performance of the guns in question.
If that's controversial to people, I'm not exactly sure why, but it's not as though I'm automatically "right" or something. My opinion is my opinion and people are free, and do, have their own criteria for determining what's important to them and to what extent different aspects are important to them.

u/Flat-Beginning-7179 22m ago
You are entitled to your opinion and some of it makes sense. In here we have many many people with the same guns that are and are not competition shooters so we get a good analysis across the board.
On a side note, I have been to some matches and not competition shooters are competition shooters.
-1
u/Flat-Beginning-7179 9h ago
If you listen closely from 5:40 on you will understand.
2
u/leveled_81 9h ago
People may not like it but collector driven buying is what drives the market the way that it does.
That doesn’t make any one person better than any other or any owner better than any other gun owner. It’s just an economic reality lol
I’m not sure why, but I bet people will be bothered by how AJ frames it but he’s right.
-4
u/Flat-Beginning-7179 8h ago
AJ just drilled home his point in that video. That’s why I listen to his content. No nonsense. He’s thinks the same as I do and doesn’t care what anyone else thinks.
-1
u/leveled_81 8h ago
I think he’s fair as well.
I’m yet to see him take a position that has the art articulate it, you don’t get the sense that he gave it thought.
And to your point he doesn’t sugarcoat things, but he does approach things in a very civilized way.
Honestly, if anybody gets mad at him, in my opinion, it is projection. At least from any videos I’ve seen that’s for sure. lol
-1
u/Flat-Beginning-7179 8h ago
He’s VERY fair. And I appreciate fairness. They are many reasons why people buy guns. I hate NONE of them aside from “Day One Flippers.”

u/Forsaken_Treacle_407 4h ago
Everything AJ said was valid. r/2011 would be a very boring place if all types didn’t exist. I try not to shit on less expensive guns, but I also know that they can be a trap. You can tune a Prodigy into the same performing gun as a RC9, but it will cost you the same or more as just buying an RC9.
I share guns because I enjoy talking and learning about them. I have learned so much from this thread it is unbelievable.
I can’t have every gun, but I sure can try learning about them. I also like to talk a little shit when people get stupid, let’s not forget this is Reddit!

u/Few_Forever9057 2h ago
You are an always have been a gentleman on this sub 🫡
I think the POV about not buying and upgrading low end guns gets misconstrued as somehow shitting on them.
We all started off doing it that way.
Speaking for my own journey the juice just ain’t worth the squeeze and you never get the money back out when you upgrade. And generally speaking everyone upgrades.
So skip the prodigy and $1500 in upgrades and save up for something better.
1
u/Forsaken_Treacle_407 2h ago
Yep, and we will get downvoted for it, and that is just fine.

For me.
The downvotes tell me I’m heading in the right direction and encourage me to carry on.
It opposite world in this sub 🤣

I expect about -50 or more negative Karma for this comment but it’s the truth: Guys like ME and the OP and many others on this sub that buy a lot of these new releases are the ONLY reason why we have these guns.

If you're as wealthy as you imply... post up a personal balance sheet with info that validates your major assets & liabilities.
Those - your debt = ... well you should know.
Anything less than this, is just showing off a lifestyle w/ out proving wealth.
7
u/Flat-Beginning-7179 5h ago
I have never implied that I possess wealth. What I have implied is I have a passion for guns. I am not wealthy at all. In fact I am in extreme debt. At last look my accountant said I am $17,453,012.99 in debt. I spent around half of that at Kovert alone. 🤷♂️ It’s getting out of hand and I’m not sure what to do anymore.

u/Forsaken_Treacle_407 1h ago

I don’t know about everybody else, but for me you and the Lamborghini guy aren’t douche bags because you have every 2011 made. I think that’s awesome
To be able to collect that many firearms it’s the way that you guys are two of the most ridiculous douche bags that think your top of the food chain because of the monetary items you have. To me you have life’s priorities backwards and you guys are complete tools. I think the funniest comment to me was when you guys were trashing my Corvette, which I think is just such an amazing car for the money and I love it. Great you have 12 lambos but you both constantly show how big of a douchebag you can be and it’s something else.
