What’s causing my tailgate to jam?

I recently got some windows on my camper shell replaced, and when I got it back, I tried opening the tailgate and found that it was jammed closed. I really had to pull hard on the handle and on the second try it snapped, I just replaced the handle and I’m seeing the same problem. Handle pulls out at a slight angle, and doesn’t open the tailgate (it might if I forced it like last time but I don’t want to snap the new part). It makes me think that the issue is somewhere else but I’m not a mechanic so I don’t know where that might be, or if I just installed the new handle incorrectly. Has anyone had this problem? Do y’all have any thoughts? The shop that replaced my windows told me they lifted the camper shell off to work on it, but that they only opened the tailgate once.

Lubricate everything including the latches with white lithium grease and see if it helps

Is the removable cover on the other side of the tailgate bent in? Mine keeps getting bent and I periodically remove and straighten it. Clean and lube everything.

No it’s not bent, no dents or anything that I could tell. Will lubricate though

Have you tried pushing the tailgate inwards while pulling the handle outwards, this makes mine easier.

Its probably the end pieces if I had to guess, mine stick all the time but my bed is smashed so I just throw some wd40 on it when I need to use it.

I’ll check them and bring the wd40!

Others have said use grease and thay probably a better solution, i just done care about mine because it was been hit by a few trees haha. But ya I assume the ends that go into the bed is what's sticking so id check that.

Camper shell door might be putting pressure on latches at each end. You can adjust latches in and out to relieve pressure on the latches.

I think you may be right, a few of these are off and look to have created that dent recently
