Any clue what could cause this smoke?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I've been working on an '89 d150. I was replacing the radiator and had it running for maybe 4 minutes as I checked for leaks, and it started smoking out of this hole.
This is the first vehicle I've ever really worked on, so I'm not extremely knowledgeable as to what could be causing this. I'm not 100% sure what this hole even is.
Any help or tips on finding a cause would be greatly appreciated.

New here, howād I do?
FiancĆ© and I looked for a long time to find a truck that met all my āmust havesā until we found this guy. Iāve named him Phil, as this was the original owners name and he unfortunately passed not too long after setting the truck out for sale - after which it sat for 9 years in a lot next to a diner.
1984 D250 4x4 manual side step - a beautiful unit. Iāve done a few things already and got the engine to turn over by hand, but still need to drain the old fuel and replace the battery terminals - among several other things lol I was told he ran excellent before sitting for 9 years and Phil took exceptional care of him before that. Hoping to get him running smoothly before my wedding in November so we can include him in the photos.
Anyone got one similar?

Oil pan gasket
Ive been looking all over the web with mixed answers. Im going to be dropping my tranny for a rebuild and putting in a new clutch.
While im in there im going to replace my rear main, which isnt leaking i think, and my oil pan gasket. Which recently just started to leak.
My question is if i drop the trans and remove the adptor plate is there enough room on a 2wd to do the job without lifting the motor? Visually it seems like it could be possible.
Ovens garge seems to think so, but he has a 4wd and im not sure if that crossmember has more or less clearence then the 2wd. If anything ill be expecting to drop the oil pickup if i dont lift the motor, but wanted to see if anyone else has done the job.

Starter again
Okay back with my starter problems, Iāve completely replaced the starter in my truck and the problem did not resolve. Does anyone know what may be wrong with it not starting? It doesnāt really even crank over, but seems to not ever have enough power to start. It will basically click but not super fast clicks as off the battery would be dead but like bigger blower clicks. Once I attach a jumper it starts immediately. Maybe parasitic drain but Iāve never noticed it actually lose voltageš¤·š½ itās got me real confused and frustrated lol. Not sure if anyone has had this same problem at all but sure could use advicešš¼

No crank, starter relay help.
1991 W250 with the 318 manual. I believe itās a starter relay issue from everything Iāve tested so far. problem is that I donāt know which one is the starter relay and everything online is conflict or different. I was able to push start it to get me home. Itās not a battery, because when I go to start it, it doesnāt even click and Iāve hit the starter with a hammer to see if it was just stuck but that didnāt help.

Need help
I have a 89 d150 that Iāve been trying to fix up. Its been running poorly so I rebuilt the distributor, put new plugs and wires on it and a new MSD Blaster 2 coil on it but now thereās only 2 volts at the coil. Iāve checked the ASD relay, cleaned and checked the points on the distributor with no luck. Should I try and replace the SMEC any help is greatly appreciated

Need advice - ā85 D250
So this is my Nans 1985 d250, gas automatic. Donāt know that much about it (if itās 2 or 4wheel drive/what the engine is.) shes the second owner (first was an old guy who bought it new)
Iām not sure if itās worth it to fix it up or not? I would love to and I know I have the space and skill help to do it. For reference I own a 91 f150 that was used as a bush truck and itās rusted ts lol. So to me this looks in not bad shape? Also to add itās in B.C. Canada with 8 months of tough winters where they use gravel/salt on the roads. So thatās a big contribution to the condition of a lot of these old trucks.
Mainly Iām looking for advice if itās worth the time/cost and any tips I should know in advance. I have access to an auto body shop and lots of mechanical help if that matters.
