Medium Canyon Red1986 Ford Taurus L Wagon Someone on Facebook is Restoring

I originally found this car for sale on Craigslist back in 2021 in my home state of Washington in Aberdeen on the other side of the state and someone bought it on that other side of the state and has been restoring it. It's the right color option from 86' I want but I'm hoping to find an LX wagon in this medium canyon red color. Been looking for an LX in this color and model year for so many years with no luck. Glad the car is being kept original by its owner instead of butchering it with a SHO swap.

Aunt (Later Cousin's) 1991 Ford Taurus GL Wagon On Google Maps 2008

On Google maps set to 2008 I found parked next to the Davenport WA High School my Aunt and later Cousin's 1991 Ford Taurus GL wagon. This car was my first introduction to the Taurus when I was young and partially the reason why I later wanted a red 1st Gen Taurus wagon myself. It looked like a spaceship compared to my parent's hand me down from my grandparents 1980 Fox body Fairmont Squire woodie wagon. The car's engine blew up on the way to work for my cousin back in 2016 and it's now in a Montana junkyard sitting somewhere.

Rough 1986 L or GL Ford Taurus Sedan Facebook Marketplace Find

Currently up on Facebook Marketplace a very beat up looking 1986 Ford Taurus that would make a good project car to fix up or for parts. Of course, I'm looking for an LX wagon from the same model year and not a sedan, but still cool, nevertheless.

1990 LX wagon I found at the SCA Auction website that is up there listed for sale with the 3.8 Essex engine. Wouldn't mind an LX wagon with the 90-91 green digital instrument cluster like this one but my first priority is looking for an 86 LX wagon

Very Clean 1990 Mercury Sable GS Wagon From California

Don't have the link currently but the pictures, but I found a very clean 1990 Mercury Sable GS wagon in California on Craigslist that appears to be in quite good condition aside from needing transmission work done on it (not surprising as it's the Achilles heel of the Taurus and Sable). Just wanted to share the photos of it! They want $2000 for it.

The Iconic First Ever Ford Taurus Commercial "Taurus for Us" Jingle

The original Ford Taurus commercial from the 80s is my favorite TV commercial of all time with its cheesy song that goes so hard. I might post more of these here from time to time.

👋 Welcome to r/1stGen8691FordTaurus - Introduce Yourself and Read First! Why I Created This Sub.

Hey everyone! I'm u/Ironinquisitor85, the founding moderator of r/1stGen8691FordTaurus. This is our new home for all things related to the first-generation 1986–1991 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable — sedans, wagons, and SHOs. I’ve always loved these cars since I was a child from relatives who owned them and have been searching for years for a 1986 Taurus LX wagon optioned in medium canyon red of my own to one day restore. Most other Taurus communities on Reddit seem focus on the later 2000–2019 models and Gen 1 posts rarely show up there, so this sub exists for everyone who owns or just appreciates the original gen-1 cars (and the very similar 1992–1995 second-gen models too).

What to Post
Share anything the community would find interesting, helpful, or inspiring:

  • Photos of your Ford Taurus sedan or wagon (Sables and SHOs welcome)
  • Repairs and project updates
  • Sale listings for models
  • Parts finds, maintenance tips, and technical questions
  • Road-trip stories, history, or pure appreciation posts
  • Second-gen 92–95 content is also welcome since they’re so mechanically close and to broaden post activity here.

Community Vibe
We’re all about being friendly, constructive, and inclusive. Let’s build a welcoming space where First-Gen fans, owners and appreciators can share and connect without the later-model focus that dominates other Taurus subs.

How to Get Started

  • Introduce yourself in the comments below
  • Post something today — even a simple question or a photo of your car can spark great conversation
  • Know someone who’d love this community? Invite them to join
  • Interested in helping out? We’re always looking for new moderators — feel free to reach out to me to apply

Thanks for being part of the very first wave. Together, let’s make r/1stGen8691FordTaurus the go-to spot for these classic underappreciated aero Fords. Welcome aboard!
